Busswil is a village in the municipality of Sirnach in the Münchwilen district in the Swiss canton of Thurgau .
history
The village , located southwest of Wil in a dry valley, is separated from Sirnach by a range of hills . First mentioned in 792 as Pucinesvillare, 834 Buosinwilare. Busswil was part of the Rickenbach court from 1506–1798 and was therefore subject to the Vogtei Schwarzenbach or the Wileramt of the St. Gallen monastery . The church, which was predominantly Catholic until 1900, always belonged to Sirnach. The local community was formed in 1812 through the merger of Busswil with Littenheid , Hub and Weid and until 1996 belonged to the then municipal community of Sirnach. The most important branch of business until the Second World War was agriculture; House weaving and embroidery offered a sideline. Limestone marl was mined near Littenheid and peat was cut in the Riet Ägelsee until 1948 . The largest employer is the Littenheid Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, which emerged from a retirement home founded in 1883. In 1990, 79% of those employed in Busswil were employed in the 3rd sector. The clinic village and numerous new buildings between Hub and Busswil changed the appearance of the community after 1960.
On January 1, 1997, the former local parish was merged with the neighboring local parishes and the municipality of Sirnach to form the political municipality of Sirnach .
