history
Balterswil was first mentioned in 885 as Baldherreswilare . The village belonged to the Lords of Bichelsee in the late Middle Ages and came to Fischingen Abbey through the Landenbergers in 1419 . Until 1798 it was part of the old Fischinger dish. Balterswil has always been part of the Bichelsee church . In 1521 the right to use pasture was extended to Ifwil, in 1651 the citizens' use was limited to the existing farmsteads.
In the 19th century, livestock was added to the cultivation of vines, arable crops and fruit, as well as peat production . In 1884 arson led to a village fire. Around 1900 there were several small embroideries, but the small-scale farming structure remained until around 1970. From 1941 to 1950 the Riet Thrush was drained and in 1979 a merger of properties began. At the end of the 20th century, a pneumatic company founded in 1950, a company that emerged from it for storage facilities with a total of approx. 250 employees and numerous residential buildings shaped the village.
