Ken McKenzie Trophy (CHL)
The Ken McKenzie Trophy was an ice hockey trophy awarded annually to players by both incarnations of the Central Hockey League (CHL). As part of the first incarnation , the trophy was awarded to the rookie of the year between 1963 and 1984 . When the league was revived in 1992, the trophy was reintroduced, but from now on to the player who had collected the most scorer points in the course of the regular season .
The award has been named after Ken McKenzie , a Canadian journalist and founder of The Hockey News magazine, since the 1977/78 season . Previously, the name was CHL Rookie of the Year . After the 2002/03 season , there was no further awarding of the award. Instead, the Joe Burton Award was introduced.
