Klemen Lavrič [ klɛmɛn lawritʃ ] (born June 12, 1981 in Velenje ) is a former Slovenian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

In the club

Lavrič started his career in his hometown with NK Rudar Velenje . From July 2003 to December 2003 the striker played in Croatia for Hajduk Split and after half a year at Inter Zaprešić (January 2004 to July 2004) moved to Germany to Dynamo Dresden , where he scored the goal in the second division match against FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt of 2004. The Slovenian reacted fastest in the east derby in the 65th minute after a rebound and steered the ball with an overhead kick from twelve meters to 1-0 for Dynamo Dresden into the opposing goal. The game on December 12 ended 1-1.

In July 2005 Lavrič moved after a long tug of war for a rumored transfer of around one million to the first division promoted MSV Duisburg , where he signed a three-year contract. Although the striker scored six goals this season, the club rose at the end of the season. Lavrič remained loyal to the club and contributed in the 2006/07 season with twelve goals to the immediate resurgence.

The next season should be characterized by sporting setbacks and problems with the club's management. A rift at the beginning of the season when Lavrič, after he had previously only been used as a substitute player, tried to move shortly before the transfer window closed, but the club refused his request (to which the Slovenian responded with a sick note), both parties were able to dispel, so Lavrič completed twelve games (two goals) in the first half of the season.

The smoldering conflicts escalated towards the second half of the season. After the striker was out of action for several games at the end of February, he asked for a regular seat from coach Rudi Bommer , otherwise he would prefer to sit in the stands in the future. Bommer suspended his player as a result of the incident and announced that Lavrič would "not play another game for us [Duisburg] that season". Before the 29th match day Bommer lifted the suspension, so that the player came on four more season appearances, but could not prevent the relegation of Duisburg and remained without a goal.

Lavrič had to leave the club at the end of the season consequently and joined the Japanese club Ōmiya Ardija . After he was no longer in the Japanese squad from July 2009 - he scored five goals in 21 games - he moved to SK Sturm Graz in Austria on August 31, 2009, shortly before the transfer was closed , where he signed a one-year contract. Despite passable performances and the winning goal in the Austrian Cup final , the club and the players could not agree on a contract extension because Lavrič's offer was not enough.

After six months without a club, the Slovenian moved to the Swiss Axpo Super League at FC St. Gallen on January 31, 2011 . In thirteen games he only managed one goal, so the contract, which was running out at the end of the season, was not extended. The striker only caused a stir as a chubby professional , as the tabloid Blick called him in view of his lack of fitness.

In June 2011 Lavrič signed a one-year contract with Karlsruher SC . Sports director Oliver Kreuzer , who had already brought him to Sturm Graz, was in charge of his commitment .

In the national team

Klemen Lavrič made his first game for Slovenia on March 31, 2004 against Latvia (0-1). There he was substituted on in the 86th minute for Spasoje Bulajič .

He also made six appearances in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup . However, the qualification did not succeed. He was also involved in qualifying for the European Football Championship in 2008 , scoring four goals in twelve games, making him the top scorer in his country.

Lavrič played his last game on February 6, 2008 in the Slovenian friendly against the Danish national team . Lavrič currently has a total of 25 national team appearances and six goals.
