The Canon EOS DCS 3 was Kodak's second digital SLR camera based on Canon's EOS system. It was launched in July 1995, just four months after the Kodak EOS DSC 5, and was made in collaboration with Canon . The basis was a modified Canon EOS-1N in which a digital back (NC2000e) developed by Kodak was used instead of the analog film. The camera was able to save up to 12 pictures in a row (at 2.7 pictures per second). A 16 MB RAM served as an image buffer. The recordings were then saved on PCMCIA cards.

The recommended retail price for the camera was DM 33,900.
