Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion

The Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights is a member of the European Commission . The Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion is assigned to him. Your activity should contribute to the development of a modern and sustainable social model with more and better quality jobs in Europe. To this end, the Commission mediates between national economic, social and employment policymakers and works with the EU Council of Ministers on social issues. So far, however, the European Union has hardly acted legislatively in this area.

The current incumbent in the Von der Leyen Commission , which started its work in December 2019, is Nicolas Schmit .
