Krasnooktjabrski ( Russian Краснооктя́брьский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Volgograd Oblast ( Russia ) with 12,834 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located about 30 km northeast of the center of the oblast capital Volgograd on the opposite, left bank of the Volga , about 7 km above the dam of the Volgograd reservoir . The reservoir is a good 5 km wide at the settlement.
Krasnooktjabrski belongs to the Wolschski district and is located 10 km north of Wolschski city center.
history
The place was created at the end of 1957 in connection with the construction of the Stalingrad timber handling base on the Volga and initially belonged to the Sredneachtubinski rajon based in Srednjaja Akhtuba . On June 15, 1959, the settlement was united with the nearby village of Srednepogromnoye, received its current name, derived from Krasny Oktyabr, Russian for Red October , and the status of an urban-type settlement. On 29 March 1962, the settlement was City Soviet (Gorsowet) of Volzhsky assumed emerged from the territory of the present city circle.

To the west of the place the Samara - Engels - Volgograd regional road, which follows the left Volgaufer for long stretches, passes (formerly R226, today 18R-2 on the territory of the Volgograd Oblast). The nearest train station is in Volzhsky on the Volgograd - Verkhny Baskuntschak (- Astrakhan ) line.
