Kyle Chipchura began his career as a hockey player with the Prince Albert Raiders , for whom he was active in the Western Hockey League from 2002 to 2006 .

During this period, the attacker was in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 as a total of 18 players from the first round Montreal Canadiens selected, with their farm team , the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League , he in the 2006/07 season the Calder Cup won . In the following season, the left shooter made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Montréal Canadiens, for which he scored four goals in 36 games in his rookie year and gave seven assists. He started the 2009/10 season with the Canadiens in the NHL, while he was previously on the ice for Hamilton in the AHL. On December 2, 2009, he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a four-round vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft . After a solid first season in Anaheim, he agreed with the Californians on a contract extension for one year. In the 2010/11 season , however, the defensive striker failed to build on the previous season, whereupon the Californians decided in June 2011 not to submit a new contract offer to him, so that Chipchura became a free agent in early July 2011 . On July 19, 2011, he agreed on a one-year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes .

After a total of four years with the Coyotes, Chipchura left North America for the first time in July 2016 and joined HC Slovan Bratislava from the Continental Hockey League (KHL). A year later he moved to Kunlun Red Star within the KHL , before returning to HC Slovan for the following season.

Chipchura is considered a defensive striker and can be used flexibly in the position of the center as well as that of the winger. His team-friendly style of play was positively highlighted. Its susceptibility to injury and poor scorer qualities are viewed as weak points.

International

For Canada , Chipchura took part in the 2004 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2006 U20 World Junior Championship .
