reception

In the United States, the EP sold around 14,000 times in its first week of sales. As of February 1, 2012, the EP had sold a total of 24,000 times in the United States. Further sales figures are not known.

Reviews

About.com's Bill Lamb gave the EP four out of five stars. He described Del Rey's voice and music as captivating, but added that the songs were too similar and he wondered if she had what it takes to enliven an entire album. Despite the great similarities between the songs, Lamb shows great appreciation for Del Rey's ability to generate some puzzles personally and very selectively in uncovering details about himself.

Allmusic's John Bush regards Del Rey as a femme fatale with a smoky voice, a well-rounded appearance, and model-making. However, he only gave 2.5 out of five stars on the grounds that it was only a glimpse of the upcoming album.

Charts and chart placements

Lana Del Rey reached position 20 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and stayed on the charts for a total of three weeks. For Del Rey it was the first chart success in the US album charts. Except in the United States, the EP only made it into the charts in Canada for one week, reaching position 18 on the album charts.
