content

The lyrics to Young & Beautiful are written entirely in English, the title translated into German means “Jung und wunderbar”. The music and lyrics were co-written by Lana Del Rey and Rick Nowels. Musically, the song moves in the area of baroque pop . The song is about the thoughts of a young lover who is concerned about whether love can last a lifetime. It includes the subjects about pleasing her lover, nostalgia and the gloom of aging. The line of text “Will You Still Love Me When I'm No Longer Young and Beautiful?” Shows parallels to the peculiarities in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby .

"Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul?
I know you will, I know you will, I know that you will.
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? "

Jason Lipshutz from the US American Billboard Magazine called the song "typically lush" and sees great parallels to the previous hits Video Games and Born to Die .

Canada's National Post said Young & Beautiful started where video games left off . The song is relevant to the book because "... his obsession with the decay and transience of the good life certainly resonates". Jason Lipshutz of the US American Billboard Magazine described the video as "dark" and the Del Reys look as "very reserved". He further criticizes that the video has no degree, similar to the rhetorical question “Will You Still Love Me When I'm No Longer Young and Beautiful?” At the heart of the song.
