The Elbe constituency is a constituency for the election of the Lower Saxony State Parliament , established by law in 2004, first election in 2008.
It is the electoral district with the largest area and is located in the northeast of Lower Saxony . The constituency includes the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg and, from the district of Lüneburg, the town of Bleckede , the communities of Adendorf and Amt Neuhaus and the joint communities of Dahlenburg , Ostheide and Scharnebeck . In the 2008 state elections , instead of the municipality of Adendorf, the municipality of Ilmenau was part of the constituency. The district of Lüchow-Dannenberg belonged to the dissolved constituency 59 Lüchow until 2008, the areas in the district of Lüneburg belonged to the dissolved constituency 60 of Lüneburg-Land.
The restructuring of the Lower Saxony state electoral districts and the formation of constituency 48 Elbe go back to a law passed by the Lower Saxony state parliament on December 14, 2004, which regulates the reduction of the state parliament from 155 to 135 members and the reduction of the electoral districts from 100 to 87.

For the early state election in Lower Saxony in 2017 , six direct candidates ran in the Elbe constituency. The directly elected MP is Uwe Dorendorf ( CDU ). Miriam Staudte ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) also entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list .
