The men's high jump at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held on September 3 and 4, 1974 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .

European champion was the Dane Jesper Tørring , who in the past mainly appeared as a long jumper . Second place went to the Soviet defending champion Kęstutis Šapka . Bronze went to the Czechoslovakian Vladimír Malý .

qualification

Thirty participants entered the qualifying round. The qualification height for the direct entry into the final was 2.14 m. Fourteen athletes reached this mark (highlighted in light blue). They contested the final the following day.
