DAF 95

The DAF 95 was a truck that was introduced by DAF (Automobile) in 1987 as the successor to the DAF 2800 series. It was developed with the aim of enabling high transport performance with low operating costs. The DAF 95 had an Advanced Turbo Intercooling engine (abbreviated ATI) and was available with the following cabs:

  • Driver's cab (DAF FT 95)
  • Sleeper
  • Topsleeper
  • Space Cab
  • Super space cab

The DAF 95 was presented to the public for the first time at the 1987 International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles. Initially, only an ATi diesel engine with 11.6 liters displacement, 6 cylinders and 228, 257 or 280 kW (310–380 hp) was available as a motor. In 1988 the DAF 95 was voted Truck of the Year .

In 1990 there was a minor facelift that affected the front bumper and the DAF logo. At the same time, the engine was now available with 242, 265 and 294 kW (330–400 hp). Now the 95 was marketed as the Leyland DAF 95 in the UK as a result of the Leyland DAF merger .

In 1992 a new top engine appeared in the form of a 316 kW version. In 1994 a special version finally followed, the Super Space Cab 95.500 with a Cummins Engine diesel engine (14 liter displacement, 373 kW, 6 cylinders). This engine was only available in the Super Space Cab, while only the smaller engines were available in the other model variants.

Based on the Super Space Cab 95.500, the successor model DAF 95XF was introduced in 1997 .
