Liešno (1927–1946 Slovak "Liešne"; German Liexen , Hungarian Turócerdőd - until 1907 Liesnó , previously Ljesnó ) is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 53 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the Okres Turčianske Teplice , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Turiec landscape .

geography

The community is located in the southwestern part of the torrent basin on the lower reaches of the Jasenica stream . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 480  m nm and is 13 kilometers from Turčianske Teplice and 27 kilometers from Martin .

Neighboring municipalities are Slovenské Pravno in the north, Kaľamenová in the east, Budiš in the south and Rudno in the west.

history

Liešno was first mentioned in writing in 1302 as Lesna . In 1434 the village was owned by the Rečko family , later the Prónay , Kereskényi and Velič families . In 1715 there were five households in town. In 1785 the village had 30 houses and 188 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 31 houses and 166 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic, too, agriculture was the main source of income for the population.

According to the 2011 census, Liešno had 54 residents, all of them Slovaks .

29 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB and 19 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for two residents.
