Kaľamenová (until 1927 “Kalamenová” in Slovak; German Kalmannsdorf , Hungarian Turóckelemenfalva - until 1907 Kelemenfalu ) is a municipality in the north-center of Slovakia with 86 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the Okres Turčianske Teplice , part of the Žilinský kraj and is part of the traditional Turiec landscape .

The municipality is located in the south-western part of the torrent basin on the lower reaches of the Jasenica stream and west of the Turiec river . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 495  m nm and is 11 kilometers from Turčianske Teplice and 27 kilometers from Martin .

Neighboring municipalities are Slovenské Pravno in the north, Veľký Čepčín in the east, Dubové in the south, Budiš in the southwest and Liešno in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1240 as Lazkouch , when a local resident named Sitino received the place in an act of donation from Béla IV . Later the village was owned by the Lieszkovszky family , in the 15th century by the Kelemen family, and from 1546 by the Rakovský and Horváth families . In 1715 there were nine households in Kaľamenová.

In 1785 the village had 30 houses and 188 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 31 houses and 166 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.

The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic, too, agriculture was the main source of income for the population.

According to the 2011 census, there were 87 residents in Kaľamenová, including 76 Slovaks . 11 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

34 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and 32 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB. Seven residents had no denomination and 14 residents had no denomination.
