This list of fountains in Braunschweig contains the fountains and water features in the city of Braunschweig . Some of them have been removed, relocated, remodeled, or destroyed from their original location over the decades.

The list does not claim to be complete, but is continuously updated. For a better overview, the individual works are arranged according to the date of creation, inauguration or installation. If this date is unknown, the work is either added to the list below or added as sensibly as possible.

Eulenspiegelbrunnen

Till Eulenspiegel
  • Established: September 27, 1906
  • Occasion: Tribute to Till Eulenspiegel
  • Design: Arnold Kramer
  • Execution: Arnold Kramer
  • Material: fountain made of stone, figures (Till as well as owls and monkeys) made of bronze
  • Installation site: Bäckerklint ( 52 ° 15 ′ 56 ″  N , 10 ° 30 ′ 55 ″  E )
  • Special features: The Jewish banker Bernhard Meyersfeld donated the fountain in 1905. The figure of Eulenspiegel is a replica of a statue from 1639. The fountain was neither relocated nor protected during the Second World War, but it was the only "building" that survived the bombing of the year undamaged October 15, 1944 while the entire area was completely destroyed. On the back there is the following inscription: “Set up the funny journeyman Till Eulenspiegel where he baked owls and monkeys. Conceived and made by Arnold Kramer from Wolfenbüttel. Repositioned for the Braunschweig Heimattag on October 1, 1950 in memory of the founder of the 1905 fountain, Bernhard Meyersfeld. "

  • Status: whereabouts unknown, possibly destroyed during the Second World War. In 1975 a memorial stone with a relief portrait of Raabe was erected in the immediate vicinity .

Fishman fountain

  • Occasion: Completion of the new Schlosspassage (connection between Bohlweg and Münzstraße)
  • Design: Grete Krämer-Zschäbitz (* 1904) (fish man), Building Department of the City of Braunschweig (fountain with column and grid)

  • Installation site: square-like extension in the middle of the castle passage ( 52 ° 15 ′ 47 ″  N , 10 ° 31 ′ 30 ″  E )
  • Special features: The original fish man was stolen by metal thieves in 1965 , later found in the Oker and put back in its original location. In 1976 it was stolen again and was nowhere to be found. In 1978 a newly cast figure was erected.
