List of territorial changes in Saxony 2000
The list of area changes in Saxony 2000 contains changes to municipal areas of the Free State of Saxony in the period from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000. These include, among other things, amalgamations and separations of municipalities, incorporation of municipalities into another, changes in the municipality name and Reclassifications from parts of one municipality to another.
In Saxony there were ten municipal area changes in the year 2000, including one incorporation, six reclassifications, two name changes and a merger of municipalities. In eight of the ten cases, the municipality still exists after the change , the others were dissolved through subsequent changes in area. Special features of the year 2000 are the reversals of the incorporations of Eulowitz and Heuersdorf on January 1, 1999 as well as the division of the municipality of Bienitz into the independent city of Leipzig and the cities of Schkeuditz and Markranstädt , which are in different districts.
