List of territorial changes in Saxony in 1996
The list of territorial changes in Saxony 1996 contains changes to municipal areas of the Free State of Saxony in the period from January 1, 1996 to December 31, 1996. These include, among other things, mergers and separations of municipalities, integration of municipalities into another, changes in the municipality name and Reclassifications from parts of one municipality to another.
In Saxony there were 74 changes in municipal area in 1996, of which 55 were incorporated, eight reclassifications, two name changes, one new formation and eight amalgamations of municipalities or districts. In 57 of the 74 cases, the municipality still exists after the change , the others were dissolved due to subsequent changes of area.
On January 1, 1996, the 1st and 2nd District Reform Amendment Acts came into force. The first amending law regulates the establishment of the Meißen-Radebeul district and the dissolution of the Hoyerswerda district . In the second amendment, the founding of the Vogtlandkreis was decided.
