List of territorial changes in Saxony 1997
The list of territorial changes in Saxony 1997 contains changes to municipal areas of the Free State of Saxony in the period from January 1, 1997 to December 31, 1997. These include, among other things, mergers and separations of municipalities, incorporation of municipalities into another, changes in the municipality name and Reclassifications from parts of one municipality to another.
In Saxony there were 45 changes in municipal area in 1997, of which 25 were incorporated, 15 reclassifications, three name changes and two mergers of municipalities or districts. In 33 of the 45 cases, the municipality still exists after the change , the others were dissolved due to subsequent changes of area.
