List of territorial changes in Saxony in 2008
The list of territorial changes in Saxony 2008 contains changes to municipal areas of the Free State of Saxony in the period from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. These include, among other things, mergers and separations of municipalities, incorporation of municipalities into another, changes in the municipality name and Reclassifications from parts of one municipality to another.
In Saxony, there were 13 changes to the municipal area in 2008, including three incorporations, seven reclassifications and three amalgamations of municipalities. In 12 of the 13 cases, the municipality still exists after the change , the others were dissolved due to subsequent changes of area. In 2008, the second Saxon district reform took place , in which on August 1, 2008 the number of districts was reduced from 22 to 10 and the number of independent cities from 7 to 3.

The sorting is done chronologically: date, independent cities, rural districts, receiving or newly formed municipality. Communities that still exist today are highlighted in color. If the impact data are set before August 1, 2008, the district is given before the new district is regrouped, otherwise the newly created district.
