Totality of the Royal Saxon Triangulation (" European degree measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony "); Station 29 Buchberg (Parcel 1199)
(map)
1865 Significant in terms of surveying history and technology history. In the period from 1862 to 1890, a land survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony, in which two triangular networks were formed. On the one hand, there is the network for grade measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. This national survey was led by Christian August Nagel, according to which the triangulation columns are also referred to as "Nagelsche columns". This surveying system was one of the most modern layer networks in Germany. The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying columns of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional importance.

The Buchberg station was built in 1866 from Laußnitz granite on the western summit of the Hinterer Buchberg in the middle of the 50 km² Laußnitz Heath (elevation: 245.8 m, not the highest point). The landowner was the Royal Saxon State Fiscus. The station was part of the base enlargement network with which the Großenhainer baseline was transferred to the 18-Collm and 10-Keulenberg graduation side. The station was necessary for processing and calculating the degree measurement network, but as a fixed point it was assigned to the 2nd order of the Royal Saxon Triangulation. Obviously the pillar was made in 1865 and bears the inscription "Station / BUCHBERG / der Kön.Sächs. / Triangulirung / 1865". Unsmoothed surfaces of the base zone are visible, as there is no otherwise usual earth fill. The characters TP and ∆ can be clearly seen. The original cover plate is no longer available. A piece of granite has broken out on the northeast corner of the deck. Due to the thick forest of the Buchberg, there are no more views to the neighboring points.

(map)
1822/23 Single-storey quarry stone building with a hipped roof, the oldest preserved such system in Saxony, was used for the extraction of seeds from conifers, an important testimony to the history of land use and forest and forestry, closely linked to the beginning of classic forestry, wooden cladding, wooden eaves. The seed kiln is an early evidence of modern forestry and forest science in Saxony, which was shaped by Heinrich Cotta . The provision of large quantities of seeds was fundamental for the reforestation of the Saxon forests, so that the preserved Darrhaus next to another seed kiln in Bärenfels (see Obj. 09277850 - Forsthaus Bärenfels) as a supraregional seed producer documents the common efforts towards more sustainable forest management. The visit of Queen Amalie , wife of the Saxon King Friedrich August I , shortly after the construction of the seed kiln, underlines the original importance of this facility.

Detailed memorial texts

  1. Seed candy: Due to forest pasture, litter use, hunting operations as well as high and unsustainable use of wood, the condition of the forest in Saxony has deteriorated continuously since the Middle Ages. In the course of the emerging, scientifically based forestry, extensive reforestation finally took place in the 19th century, which resulted in a fundamental change in the local mixed forests to pure stands of pine and spruce. The Laußnitzer Seedendarre is a material testimony to these reforestation efforts as the basis for more sustainable forest management. Built in 1822/1823 based on the model of a Wendischkarsdorfer kiln from 1811 (today Karsdorf, district of Rabenau), the large quantities of seeds required for reforestation were extracted here from the pine and spruce cones collected by Saxon forestry offices, cleaned and then reused as seeds returned to the appropriate forestry offices in the correct origin. The desemination of the cones was no longer carried out by the heat of the sun, but - much more quickly - by the heat of the oven in drying rooms. The cones were poured from the attic onto so-called hordes, wooden frames with a bottom that was permeable for seeds, made of sticks placed on edge, and heated using a heating pipe system until they jumped open and their seeds could fall through the hordes to the floor. Horde holes, openings in the side wall of each kiln, enabled the tenons to be turned during the kilning process. Due to the great demand for seeds, the kiln house was expanded to double its size as early as 1825. In 1958 the plant was finally shut down, as the state seed kiln built in Flöha in 1955 was able to guarantee the supply of appropriate seeds. The building served as a warehouse for pesticides until 1990, after which it was empty. Since 2000 it has housed a museum on forest management and local history.
  2. ^ Dehio - Handbook of German Art Monuments / Saxony Volume 1:
Evangelical Parish Church Höckendorf. Simple hall church of medieval origin with charming 17th century furnishings. 1671 extension to the west, restored in 1935. Elongated plastered building with 3/8 end, gable roof with octagonal roof turret and pyramid point, arched windows, on the south side ramp-like stairs to the former patron s lodge. The flat-roofed hall with an ornamentally painted coffered ceiling. On the north, west and west south side galleries that are suspended from the ceiling. The galleries with profiled parapet and foot beams. On the parapets painted with scenes from the Old and New Testament, in between painted scrollwork ornaments. The painting of the organ choir parapet with angel heads, birds and flowers is particularly appealing. The paintings allegedly by Paul Konrad from Dresden, 1616. Wooden altar with carved Last Supper relief in a wide frame adorned with diamond cuboids, side columns with an uncranked cornice, 1615, as a final crucifix, like the side swellings only from 1673. Wooden pulpit, 1615, the parapets painted: Aaron, Moses, Salvator mundi and Ecclesia, sound cover with a painted dove. Delightful cube-like wooden baptismal table depicting the baptism of Christ and Christ, blessing the children, scrollwork ornamentation in between, lid with top supported by eight docks. Charming little baroque organ by Andreas Mayer & Joh. Christian Pfützner, 1754/55. Sandstone graves from the 17th and 18th centuries with figurative representations. In the south-east corner painted grave monuments of the Uschner family from 1648 and 1656.
