Totality of the Royal Saxon Triangulation (" European degree measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony "); Station 67 Olgahöhe (on the Olgahöhe)
(map)
Marked 1865 Triangulation column; Second order station, significant in terms of surveying history and technology history. Inscription “Station / OLGAHÖHE / der / Kön. Sächs. / Triangulirung / 1865 ", characters TP and DREIECK". Material Laussnitz granite.

The pillar rises 3.3 meters above the ground. The exposed upper base stone is tilted by almost 45 ° compared to the base. The roughly hewn base layer used to be surrounded by sand. The upper surface is protected by a flat cover plate, which is firmly attached to the pillar with binding material. The inscription "Station / OLGAHÖHE / der / Kön. Sächs. / Triangulirung / 1865" on the south side is completely preserved, laid out in black and easy to read. The characters TP and ∆ are also clearly visible. The location is in the middle of a large, loosely wooded high forest area. Wooden steps lead up to the raised area. Direct views to other points are no longer possible due to the high forest vegetation. From 1862 to 1890 a land survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony , in which two triangular networks were formed. On the one hand, there is the network for grade measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying columns of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional importance (source: A search for traces, historical surveying columns in Saxony, publisher: Interest group Nagelsche Säulen and Staatsbetrieb Geobasisinformation und Vermessung Sachsen, SEW-Verlags GbR, May 2012).
