Side building and three courtyard entrance pillars of a four-sided courtyard Hauptstrasse 17
(map)
Marked 1844 Upper floor half-timbered, gable slated, of architectural and economic importance. The stable house stands as the eastern end of a three-sided courtyard, gable-independent to the street. A constructively shaped double-bar tied half-timbering rises above the ground floor, which is made of quarry stone. The collar beam roof is stiffened against the wind with a central longitudinal bracing. The quarry stone ground floor encloses the arched hallway, the arched stable and a room with a wooden beam ceiling. According to the inscription above the door in 1844 (i), what was probably a wooden ground floor was massively replaced at this time. The timber (spruce) of the roof works dendrochronologically with four samples in the felling years after 1718 to 1729. The roof was built in 1730. The upper floor framework shows tenon full corner struts and one tenon full strut between the corridor and stable zone. During the construction period, the windows were inserted between the chest and the end-to-end transom. Their width is formed by a stand and a stem. With these structural features, the upper floor framework can belong to the construction time of the roof structure, but must then be addressed as very progressive for the time. If possible, further dendro samples should be taken here. After the room ceiling findings and structural findings on the facing gable, in view of the knowledge gained from findings and historical photographs that Arnsdorf was characterized by half-timbered houses up to the second third of the 19th century, it can be assumed that the residential stable house at Hauptstrasse 17 was also built as a half-timbered house with a wooden room has been. A promotion of carefully carried out construction measures with the aim of using the cultural monument as a residential building is expressly advocated from a professional point of view. 09284616

  3. Historical information : The reason for the construction was the overcrowding of the existing institutions in Saxony. 1906/07 Acquisition of the former parade ground for 200,000 marks including the preparatory work. In 1907 a medical commission met to work out a suitable construction program for the new institution, planning work began, first sketch of the plan. Creation of a draft for the garden design of the outdoor facilities by the garden architect Paul Schindel (Bad Elster), the draft is not implemented. 1908 Start of construction initially on the supply and technical facilities. Client: Royal Ministry of the Interior. Planning and construction management: Construction department in the Royal Ministry of the Interior (architect unknown). In 1911, the gardening assistant Jeschke von Bad Elster was transferred to Arnsdorf as a gardening supervisor; the design of the gardens near the building probably came from his hand. 1912 first occupation with patients from other Saxon sanatoriums and nursing homes. 1913 Completion of construction work (only minor construction work until 1916). 1950s renovations in connection with the introduction of new forms of therapy. Since the beginning of the 1990s, extensive renovation and repair work under the direction of the Saxon State Building Authority Dresden II (today SIB Radeberg).

    Name of the clinic :

  • 1912–18 Royal Saxon nursing home in Arnsdorf
  • 1918–54 Saxon state sanatorium and nursing home
  • 1954–91 District Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology
  • 1991–93 Specialist Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology
  • 1991–93 Specialist Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology
  • since 1993 Saxon Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology

The former Royal Saxon Nursing Institution in Arnsdorf was originally divided into the following areas: men's side, women's side, administration area with administration building, church and hospital, technical and utility building, employee apartments, agricultural property, green spaces independent of the building, cemetery and parenting hall with section hall, market gardening with greenhouse.

Structural assets:

  • Fountain:
    • Wall fountain at Villa Hufelandstrasse 22: The fence around Villa Hufelandstrasse 22 is accentuated by a wall fountain towards the square. The well-designed fountain consists of a concrete wall designed with ornaments typical of Reform, which forms a niche with a small water trough in front of it. In the niche there is a small bronze sculpture on a fish from whose mouth the water pours out. The artist name “G. Reissmann ”. To the right and left of the water trough are connected benches. Behind the fountain are three hanging ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior, Pendula). In terms of formal aesthetics, the design corresponds to Georg Wrba's simultaneous architectural and fountain sculptures in Dresden.
    • Fountain in the war cemetery for the fallen of World War II on Stolpener Strasse: The concrete fountain consists of a polygonal water basin and a small stele arranged in the middle. It forms an important design accent in the center of the war cemetery. It is a testimony to the extensive creative will of the cemetery reformers after 1900. This type of fountain was widespread in a large number of municipal cemeteries that were newly established after the turn of the century (see Urnenhain Dresden-Tolkewitz). Technically, too, the use of reinforced concrete for water basins was still relatively new and shows the diversity of the building material.

Significant, unchanged preserved central building of Art Nouveau on the park-like grounds of the Saxon State Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology, built in 1909-12, consecrated 1913. Probably Designed by Hermann Otto Undeutsch and senior building officer Oskar Bernhard Reh from the State Building Department based on the model of the church at Steinhof in Vienna by Otto Wagner. Exterior restoration 1991–94. High-rise building with a steep hipped mansard roof and roof turrets. On the north and south sides there are five tall windows, closely joined together in rusticated sandstone. Almost square interior with a semi-circular, slightly raised chancel. Plastered dome suspended from steel cables, semi-dome in the choir. On the west side a single-storey gallery on sandstone pillars with baroque parapets. The church interior sloping towards the chancel. The semicircle of the stage-like chancel with pilasters in artificial marble, the vault painted dark blue with a representation of the sun. Uniform Art Nouveau furnishings, ornamental and floral wall paintings on the walls and in the dome, glass paintings. Simple wooden Art Nouveau altarpiece with a good painting by Oskar Popp, marked 1913, depicting the healing of the lame man. Wooden baptism, probably also in 1913. • Felix Tower Wallroda:
The tower was built in 1824 on behalf of the manor owner von Kleinwolmsdorf, Baron Wilhelm von Gutschmidt, for his son Felix and inaugurated in 1825 as an observatory. A simple mountain farm was established in 1839. After oral building permission from the landlord Höfgen in Wallroda, the surveying column for the Royal Saxon Triangulation was built in 1865 on the gallery of the 17 m high Felix Tower as 2nd order station, No. 65 . The column was made of Neundorf sandstone and was 1.20 m high. The dilapidated tower was refurbished for the first time in 1876. The owners of the tower and the restoration changed several times. In 1888 a house for 150 people was built. A fire caused by lightning destroyed the tower in 1918, which also resulted in the loss of the surveying column. Due to the danger of collapse, the upper part of the tower was demolished in 1930. In 1960 the tower and grounds came to the city of Radeberg. The restaurant was managed until 1965, but could no longer be used after severe storm damage, was looted, destroyed and finally completely demolished. In 1978 the tower was leased. After an extensive expansion, it is now used for amateur radio purposes. The tower and site have been in private hands since 2000. The current tower height should now be 15 m. In the period from 1862 to 1890, a land survey was carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony, in which two triangular networks were formed. On the one hand there is the network for the degree measurement in the Kingdom of Saxony (network I. class / order) with 36 points and the royal Saxon triangulation (network II. Class / order) with 122 points. This national survey was led by Prof. Christian August Nagel , according to which the triangulation columns are also referred to as "Nagelsche columns". This surveying system was one of the most modern layer networks in Germany. The surveying columns set for this purpose remained almost entirely in their original locations. They are an impressive testimony to the history of land surveying in Germany and in Saxony. The system of surveying columns of both orders is in its entirety a cultural monument of supraregional importance.
