1889-1890 (tenement house) with gate passage, plastered facade, historically important

Located in the immediate vicinity of the Karl Heine Canal and opposite the impressive complex of Philippus Church, church tower and directly adjacent parish hall, the tenement house presents itself with a plastered facade and remnants of historicist decor. The Lindenau building contractor Gustav Adolf Endert stands for the application for a front and side residential building in September 1889, for the implementation of the project between February and July 1890, carpenter Johann Gottlieb Schurig and milk merchant August Lummitzsch. In 1905 Privata Bertha Röber is the owner of the property, in 1919 master baker Wilhelm August Reinhardt and, from 1922, the boiler maker Friedrich Albin Goldacker in Eythra. In October 1938 the "plastering and painting of the front sides" was approved, and in 1997 the installation of a heating system. The courtyard area and side wing were opened up by means of a gate. The appearance of the facade is characterized by cornices and a striking accentuation of the corners by a roof house, risalit formation and formerly a corner shop. The rows of windows on the two middle floors have roofs, stucco consoles the eaves. The plastered facade has been simplified in parts, the stucco panels over the windows were probably removed as early as 1938. The unplastered quarry stone masonry of the base looks friendly, whereas the very simple windows and the heavily modified eaves box tarnish the appearance of the house. The facade facing the canal is largely devalued by three presented balcony systems. Interesting in terms of architectural history, quite effective in terms of urban planning. LfD / 2018

1935-1936 (leisure and sports construction) Boarded up plastered buildings, of local historical importance

The club building for the Academic Sports Club Leipzig eV was built by the Leipzig construction company Eduard Steyer, probably only for summer use, the reason was the relocation of the small fair to the previous sports field. The renowned Leipzig architect Emil Franz Hänsel was responsible for the design and construction management. Three seminar rooms, a break room, two rooms for teachers, a storage room and toilets were planned on the ground floor. There were also sanitary facilities in the basement along with a workshop and rooms for football, sports, gardening and LA equipment. Implementation documents for a reconstruction of the club building by the German University for Physical Culture and Sport (DHfK) based on a design by the WTZ sports buildings date from 1976. VEB Baureparaturen Leipzig-Mitte was commissioned with the execution work. The externally simple house with plastered high plinth, flat sloping roof and boarded upper floor, which opens to the south with a wide ribbon of windows to the sports field. Not far away is the Platzmeisterhaus: a picturesque wooden arbor building, probably built around 1915 and later implemented. LfD / 2009

The building application for a residential building was submitted by the Connewitz businessman Eduard Schmidt in June 1902 and architect Bruno Seyfferth from Schleußig was entrusted with the design work, execution and construction management. Previously, the property located directly on the Karl-Heine Canal was owned by the Leipzig Westend construction company. In September the bricklayer Ernst Lang from Leutzsch took over the project as entrepreneur and executor. On April 1st, 1903, the use "in unpapered condition" was approved. From December 1902 the courtyard building was built, which was to be rebuilt "in its old form" after being damaged by fire in 1909. After the old workshop was demolished in 1929, a back building was built for the manufacturing and welfare rooms of the Kohlbach & Co. machine factory. Here, architect Hermann Knaus was the designer and the construction company Louis Löbe was the executing company. Carl Brandt was called in for the reinforced concrete stairs. A demolition application from TLG Immobilien GmbH, Niederlassung Süd (Dresden) was rejected, and the renovation was carried out in 2011-2014. Unfortunately, most of the historical furnishings in the front building were destroyed. Plans for the new construction of a street-side residential building in 1929 were not implemented. The three-storey factory building has a generous window front and a usable mansard floor with a storage hatch, in the front building with its clinker facade there were two apartments on each floor. A passage on the ground floor was planned. In addition to grooving on the ground floor, molded artificial stone parts and Art Nouveau stucco decor subdivide the "classic" tenement building. Striking residential and commercial property from the first third of the 20th century, in an exposed location on a bridge over the Karl-Heine-Canal, historically significant. LfD / 2014

Facade of an apartment building in closed development GutsMuthsstrasse 48
(map)
1887 (facade), 1887 (tenement) Building formerly with shop and gate passage, historic clinker brick facade, historically important

A front and rear residential house with a horse stable were planned, submitted for approval in April 1887 and already completed at the beginning of August if the building files can be believed. Master builder Andreas Bauer from Lindenau was the initiator and significantly involved in the project. The front building had three apartments on each floor, and the rear building on the upper floors also had three of them. A bakery, a passage and a horse stable were set up here on the ground floor. Between 1966 and 1968 the shop area in the front building was converted into living space, and in 1990 the demolition application for the rear building was processed (application by VEB Gebäudewirtschaft Leipzig). The structure of the clinker facade is powerful, with a six-axis, largely unadorned middle field bracketed by side axes each with three windows in width, with window frames in plaster, rich historic decoration and roofs as well as sills made of sandstone. The ground floor zone shows a remarkable design with clinker pillars with protruding, cushion-like plaster blocks as well as a clear separation of the lower (former) business area from the residential floors of the upper floors. An application for renovation dates from 2011, along with the assessment of the irreparable condition of the ruinous house. In the years 2012 to 2014, the facade of historicism was preserved, renovated and connected to a new building behind it at great expense. The addition of an additional living area is regrettable, but at least it was set back from the facade line. LfD / 2018

1889 (Secret Annex) Plastered facade, rear building with the main facade facing the Karl-Heine-Canal, of importance in terms of local development

Building permission was granted in June 1889 for the construction of a front and rear residential building as well as two wash houses, the applicant was the building contractor Gustav Endert. Milk dealer Carl Gustav Kümmel took over the property before construction work began. The final acceptance and commissioning took place in September. The installation of a shop and the establishment of a bakery in the rear building were the task for the architect Richard Müller at the turn of the year 1900/1901. For 1905, plans for a gable roof to set up a drying floor and the preliminary project for a small farm building were submitted. The latter was completed in 1906. The building files contain plans for the expansion of the bakery in 1907, the establishment of a carpenter's workshop, the conversion of the shop into living space requested in 1956 and in 1958 the term restoration was used. According to the building file drawing, the two middle floors of the facade structure were highlighted on the front building, each with window canopies combining axes and an overall elegant structure. Structural elements made of stucco were sparingly integrated into the plastered facade. Only the two-storey clinker brick building of the former bakery in the courtyard and the rear building facing the canal are of monumental value. The effective rear residential building on the canal side and the side building with architectural value. LfD / 2014

1890-1892 (tenement house) historicizing clinker brick facade, of architectural significance

Two facade designs are stapled in the building file, each presented in 1890 initially by the architect and building business owner Guido Schorler (signed Sagame), who initiated the residential project. The following donors and executors Johann Friedrich Ernst Weidhaas and Friedrich Karl Rochan submitted new drawings. However, in February 1891, a good nine months after the building permit was granted, construction work had not yet started. Schorler, who still seemed to be involved, submitted new, again modified plans and static calculations for the already "concessioned project". The permit granted again in the summer was used and the house, designed as a three-in-hand car on the upper floors, was built by September 1892. In addition to a passage, two retail apartments were planned for the ground floor, two tenants under one roof. All toilets were outside the apartments. At the same time, by the way, a side building was built in the courtyard, in which an apartment was to be furnished in 1894. According to the 1991 report, it was in an extremely ruinous condition. In 1902, foreman Karl Ernst Thieme had master mason Otto Beyer close the doorway and relocate the main entrance to the central axis of the facade; the first floor was probably given new plastering in 1939. The current appearance of the house, which is in an exposed position opposite the building group around the Philippuskirche, is characterized by the less successful renovation and expansion between 1991 and 1993, when Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Architect Gerd Bezner worked for H. Schimmel Consulting KG from Metzingen. The windows, the new house entrance door, the roof extension on the 2nd level and the smoothed eaves with the stucco consoles are particularly disturbing. Nevertheless, above the strangely plastered ground floor area, the red clinker cladding on the three upper floors with its lush, historic stucco decor has a noticeable impact on the street space, and the artificial stone window frames with partly strong roofs structure and rhythmic structure the facade. Parts of the furnishings have been preserved, such as stucco in the entrance area and the wooden staircase. In addition to the historical building value, there is an interest in urban development. 1909-1910 (tenement house) with corner shutter, plastered facade, reform style architecture, of importance in terms of building history

The plastered residential building, designed and executed by the architect Paul Luge on his own commission, stands in the corner of Henriettenstrasse, with three residential units each on the upper floors and two apartments as well as a shop, office and storage room on the ground floor. The building application was submitted in mid-September 1909, and the project was completed in March 1910. At the end of 1911, the property came into the family ownership of the fishmonger Ernst Reinhard Steudtner, who intended to furnish loft apartments in 1926 and 1936. Further loft extensions and a redistribution of the apartments were carried out from 2004 by REC Immobilien GmbH & Co KG from Pöttmes. Civil engineer Dr.-Ing. Martin Heinisch contributed plans and calculations. Unfortunately, the facade drawing made in 1909 was not carried out at the time and today the simplified structure of the plaster and the structural elements has been flattened. In particular, the shop area and the single-leaf plastic windows disturb the appearance, the courtyard front shows the cheapest renovation and no understanding of monument conservation. The wooden staircase has been preserved, the corner shop in October 2015 is still there. LfD / 2014, 2015

1935 (tenement) traditionalist plaster facade from the 1930s, of architectural significance

The small group of tenement houses was built as a brick building with a plastered facade in 1935 as a tax-exempt small apartment building. The initiator was the "Wolfswinkel" Grundstücks- und Siedlungs-Gesellschaft mbH Leipzig, based in the Europahaus on Augustusplatz. Master builder Erich Baum was commissioned to implement the plans supplied by the architects Bormüller & Arzt. In each of the houses there were three apartments on each floor, and only two on the ground floor. Building permit was granted on May 14th "for the construction of two four-story and one three-story residential building". In 1995/1996 a redevelopment project goes hand in hand with the expansion of the attic storeys. The group of houses was built on a plot of land that was still vacant in the expansion area characterized by historicism and art nouveau buildings, with a gas station nearby. The position of the corner buildings in relation to one another and the emphasis on the plastered façade in the center through the respective arrangement of the house entrances and stairwells are particularly effective, behind the small square windows of the fifth floor, which suggests a mezzanine, were drying floors and floor chambers. The gable graffito on the house at Lützner Straße 113 with a depiction of a construction site and a longer (propaganda) text based on a design by the Dresden artist Mönkemeyer is a rarity. The simple but technically solid furnishings were largely preserved at the time of recording in 1993. LfD / 2011, 2014, 2015

Double tenement house in a semi-open development Jordanstrasse 16; 18

1910 (double tenement house) Number 16 with gate passage, plastered facade, reform style architecture, of architectural significance

Both houses were built as a so-called group house in 1910 according to designs by the Lindenau architect Friedrich Emil Paul Luge; the year before, the building sites had been publicly auctioned off from the property of the City of Leipzig. The builder for number 18 was master plumber Friedrich August Schurig, who rejected a first draft and commissioned architect Luge - who is known as the builder for number 16 - to draw up a new facade drawing. Luge then submitted modified construction plans for his house with the reference that both buildings are intended as a design unit. The facades are now largely unadorned, mainly structured only by different plaster structures, horizontal cornices and window canopies / sills. House number 16 has a slightly protruding side elevation with a four-axis dwarf house, which gives the two houses the character of a double tenement house, in 1922 a second apartment was built in the attic of number 16 by the owner Adolf Oswald Kohl (owner of a grape butter wholesaler) as " Permanent dwelling “installed. Number 18 had already received an emergency apartment in the attic in 1919 in accordance with the local law on emergency housing. The equipment corresponds to the general standard in the quarter, which is predominantly inhabited by workers. LfD / 2008

Architect Georg Friedrich took over the design, execution and supervision of the construction of the Naumann brothers' new villa "on the rock cellar", which was approved in August 1885. The brothers were owners of the CW Naumann brewery in Plagwitz. At the end of July 1886, the final acceptance and the establishment of plans for the installation of a water closet took place. Behind the effectively staged historicism facade there were also a salon, a master's room, a closet, and a guest room. A veranda with an outside staircase and a ground floor balcony took over the lead into the garden of the villa building, which is free-standing on a corner plot. The laundry room was located in the basement and a caretaker's apartment, which was also to be housed here in the basement, did not receive any official approval. Mainly the authorized signatory Max Naumann is present in the building files with his signature. In 1928 the application for an extension designed by the architects Schmidt & Johlige was submitted. A coveted division of the house into two separate living areas in August 1943 was probably only partially implemented before the end of the war. Plans for repair and reconstruction work can be presented for September 1948. The brewery owners left the ground floor to the city of Leipzig for use, and a kindergarten was set up here based on plans by the architect Willy Seidler, who also worked elsewhere on the property. At the end of the year, the lack of clear apartment separation in the house was pointed out again, and on December 13, 1948 the land register entry "Property of the people" was made. In the period that followed, the entire building was used to accommodate children and young people from the Helmholtz School. The villa building, characterized by a central elevation, documents the structural and historical development of the Karl-Heine-Straße and still works with its clinker brick facade over Zyklop clinker brick masonry plinths and a rich decor with laurel leaves in the gable triangle of the roof zone. The structure of the facades is made entirely of sandstone. Together with the preserved original equipment, it shows the demands of the brewery owner Naumann, who operated their brewery only a few hundred meters away in Plagwitz. The well-known entertainment establishment Felsenkeller was later built on the spacious property in a prestigious corner location. Remarkable villa construction in an exposed location, of importance in terms of building history, site development history and personal history. LfD / 2014

On May 4, 1888, the building application for a double dwelling and rear building was submitted or two front buildings and two rear buildings were applied for by the certified master mason and architect Bruno Rückardt. In the summer of 1889, the final completion of the building by Rückardt's construction company was announced. In the mid-1990s, renovations, extensions and renovation work were carried out, with the size of the dormer windows impairing the effect of the simple clinker plaster facades of the three floors below. The cane cornice above the ground floor and powerfully modeled sills and roofs above the windows of the piano nobile respond to the strict vertical row of windows. Parts of the equipment are well preserved. LfD / 2014, 2016

1889-1890 (tenement house) with gate passage, with two staircases from the courtyard, richly decorated historicizing clinker brick facade, of architectural significance

In addition to a front residential building, a side building with a bakery as well as a wash house, workshop, horse stable and coal cellar were built at the same time from 1889 to 1900. Master bricklayer and architect Bruno Rückardt stands for financing, execution, construction management, plan drawings, and probably also the structural considerations. The ground floor used by an inn was rebuilt several times, a hall was created as early as 1891, but in the 1920s and 1930s the restaurant rooms were converted into storage and living space. The application for "installation of a residential camp for two Polish workers in the courtyard building" in 1943 is of interest. Plans for conversion, renovation and further loft extensions were submitted in 1993/1994. The broad three-storey building with an extended mansard storey impresses with rich stucco stucco above and below the windows of the upper floors and below the eaves box, which comes into its own on the red and yellow brick surfaces. The ground floor is plastered and now has a simple but too narrow groove. The wrought iron wall anchor ends and flower box poles can be mentioned as a special feature. The massive roof extension, the plastered building base with industrial sheet metal cover and the very simple windows, the new front door and the entrance gate take some getting used to. The residential building in closed row development has an architectural historical value. LfD / 2018

1904-1906 (tenement house) Formerly with a corner restaurant, plastered facade, staircase eye, stencil painting throughout the house, of importance in terms of building history

The unspectacular building was built in the corner of Henriettenstrasse in the years 1904-1906, whereby the longer construction period was due to two changes of ownership. The client was the later owner of the inn, Wilhelm Wesche from Altranstädt, who was temporarily replaced by master painter Ernst Siebert from Möckern. The architect Erhardt Krauss made the plans. Other property owners were the Pegau innkeeper and later hotel owner in Elsterberg Wilhelm Oskar Hartig (from 1908), master dyer Franz Wilhelm Märtz (1920), foreman Felix Emil Otto Winter (also 1920) and from 1922 businessman Wilhelm Albert Karl Stops (1922), who in 1928 had an attic apartment set up. One shop was transformed into living space in 1958, the second in 1969. In the summer of 2015, the unrenovated house is empty. Strangely enough, the four-storey building does not show any eye-catching decorative or art nouveau elements, rather it only has a smooth plastered facade with fine incisions and molded artificial stone parts as window frames. A representative accentuation of the broken corner or the house entrance was dispensed with, the eaves have been smoothed. LfD / 2014, 2015

(map)
1935 (tenement), 1935 (sgraffito) traditionalistic plastered facade from the 1930s with sgraffito by Mönkemeyer from Dresden and inscription, of architectural significance

The small group of tenement houses (with Jordanstrasse 7/9) was built as a brick building with a plastered facade in 1935 as a tax-exempt small apartment building. The simple but technically solid furnishings were largely preserved at the time they were recorded in 1993; the structural damage to the houses, which was already visible after 15 years, shows that the renovation was probably too inexpensive in the 1990s. 1892-1895 (workshop) Built as a furniture workshop and upholstery shop, clinker brick facade, of importance in terms of building history and local development

Behind a now completely smoothed front tenement house from 1883 with a pub on the ground floor stands, like an enchanted little castle, a rear building in the courtyard with a yellow brick facade - two-storey, with a small dwelling. Plans for the factory building date from 1892, when the furniture dealer Eduard Walther commissioned the architect Bernhard Richter with the planning and Gustav Langhammer with the execution of the work. In 1895, the rear and front buildings were converted and a horse stable with a wash house was built. The interior of the workshop building contains only one large room on each of the two floors. Doors, windows, paintwork in the rooms and an Art Deco painting of the stairwell have been preserved. The conversion for residential purposes is planned for 2017/2018. A historical value must be recorded for the workshop building. LfD / 2017

after 1871 (monument to fallen soldiers) Porphyrtuff obelisk, of local significance

Since 1872 a memorial has been commemorating those who died in the German-French War of 1870/1871 in the community of Lindenau. The base with the inscriptions rises above a stepped platform made of natural stone and above it stands an obelisk, also made of Rochlitz porphyry tuff. Voluntary donors and funds from the narrow Lindenau community budget made it possible to erect it as the first war memorial in a Leipzig community, initially effectively on the Lindenau market. The move to the current location, on the edge of the school grounds and opposite today's Schillingstrasse 18, took place seventeen years later. Another implementation on the green between Aurelien- and Karl-Heine-Straße failed at the beginning of the 20th century because of the costs. Testimonial and memorable value, significance for popular education and local history. LfD / 2014

1867 (residential building), 1887 (rear building), 1887 (auxiliary building) Residential buildings on Hähnelstrasse, plastered facades, documents of the pre-foundational expansion and urbanization, scientific and documentary value, rarity

In June 1867 a building application was submitted for one of the late Classicist craftsmen's houses, as hundreds of them were built in Leipzig and the surrounding suburbs: the two-story brick building with a plastered facade and half-timbered partition walls inside was designed by master carpenter August Schmidt and jointly for the client Gottfried Eduard Scheide Executed with master mason Julius Langrock until December. In 1872 a wing extension was built in the courtyard, in 1875 a wash house and in 1887 a side and rear residential building. Plans in the 1920s to translate the building by one storey, add two axes and add a staircase in the courtyard were not implemented. Even today, the six-axis residential building clearly shows the change from village construction to more urban residential and commercial buildings in the Leipzig suburbs, hardly a dozen of these houses from Leipzig that have survived are entered in the list of cultural monuments of the Free State of Saxony (rarity). Renovation in 2012 including the courtyard building. LfD / 2011

1900-1901 (tenement house) with gate passage, well structured plastered facade, in the closed Wilhelminian style street, with architectural value

In 1900 and 1901, on the initiative of bricklayer foreman Robert Julius Starke, who also took on the execution, the residential building in a closed row of tenement houses with a passage and street-side house entrance, two apartments each on the upper floors. At the same time, a back building with a workshop, storage room and laundry room was built. After the final inspection, the property came into the possession of master locksmith Friedrich Wilhelm Rudolph, who later also took over the neighboring property number 12. A renovation took place in the mid-1990s. The façade, which was still completely original in 1993, accentuates the piano nobile with gable roofs above the windows, and an ornamental frieze between the 2nd and 3rd floors shows art nouveau tendrils. Original staircase, including with Art Nouveau stucco throat in the entrance area. Interesting in terms of local building history. LfD / 2011

1899-1900 (tenement house) historicizing clinker brick facade, testimony to the development of the district with architectural value

Merchant Albert Robert Martin from Reudnitz took architect Erhardt Krauss under contract and commissioned him to build a tenement house typical of the district. In the years 1899 and 1900, an eight-axle front residential building was built with a clinker facade divided by artificial stone over the grooved ground floor. The entrance is in the middle, with two axes forming side elevations due to their prominent design. Art Nouveau ornamentation appears in the arches of the 1st floor, while otherwise historical style vocabulary was used. Each floor accommodated two apartments, and a househusband's apartment was set up on the top floor. Owners known by name were master potter Karl Kahler (from 1901), office manager Albert Reinhardt (1901), master painter Heinrich Georg Max Triebe, printer's owner Karl Heinrich Scheithauer (1909) and master locksmith Wilhelm Franz Rudolph. Renovation probably in 1996 without the participation of the monument authorities with less advantageous attic extension and tasteless interior renovation, here only a beautiful wooden staircase and original floor tiles in the entrance area. The house in the closed street is testimony to the development of the district and is of architectural historical interest. LfD / 2011

1897-1898 (tenement house) with gate passage, plaster facade in a modern design concept, stucco and stencil painting in the gate passage, of importance in terms of building history

First, a residential building built in 1858 by master carpenter August Schmidt was demolished before the Reudnitz-based merchant Julius Nagel could begin implementing plans for a new four-story apartment building. Architect Alfons Berger is renowned for the design and construction management, and the builders Ohme & Bechert for the execution. A first draft of the building from 1897-1898 shows an antiquated Wilhelminian style architecture with unusually narrow windows and a very strong window frame on the piano nobile. On October 11th, 1897, the new facade was presented and plans were submitted for a side building in the courtyard (workshop and laundry room), and there was still a struggle to find a home-like apartment on the top floor. The new facade design does not really want to believe that both designs flowed from the hand of the same architect. Indeed, the representative and above all modern design concept is largely a copy of the magnificent house at Waldstrasse 4, the design of which by August Handel or Theodor Franke is also attributed to the participation of Paul Möbius (builder Franz Linke). In particular, the access portal, the coupling of two storeys with round arches in the lateral axes, the alternation of round and rectangular windows and the row of round arched windows on the top floor clearly show the extensive copying of the house on Waldplatz, which was built between 1894 and 1895. The eaves and roof zone of the house at Siemeringstrasse 13, which largely follows the first draft - probably also for reasons of the building authorities and financial reasons - looks downright unfinished. Regarding the subject of competition between the two architects Alfons Berger and Paul Möbius, the book by Stefan W. Krieg and Bodo Pientka “Paul Möbius. Art Nouveau in Leipzig ”. The apartments each consist of two rooms, a chamber, a kitchen and a corridor. In 1911, a mineral water factory was mentioned in the courtyard, and in 1933 an emergency apartment was installed in the side building. Unfortunately, the front building is now largely deprived of its smooth facade and the varied plaster structures, and some of the furnishings have been preserved, including stucco in the gate passage. The small suburban property will have been built around the middle of the 19th century, and the narrow building file began in 1881. In 1893 an owner is named Mamsch and an inspection because of the new construction of the road lock is mentioned. From February 2, 1905, Karl Friedrich Mamsch became the owner of the small property, which was sold to the Leipzig architect Franz Otto Jurich in 1936 by the Mamsch heirs. In the 1950s and 1960s, the building was used by master plumber and plumber Hellmuth Mühlich. The gable side of the two-storey house faces the street, it does not have a basement and has a wing extension. Half-timbered structures were used on the upper floors, the roof is covered with tiles. Together with the Erich-Zeigner-Allee 1 property and the two farmhouses Lionstraße 11 and 13, the property is one of the oldest preserved buildings in the old location of the district and therefore has a high testimonial value and significance for the local history. The property is still empty in April 2017. LfD / 2010, 2017

Jumping quite far back from the later building line, a building with the gable facing today's Zschocherschen Strasse was built in 1845. It showed two storeys and six window axes. The ground floor of the plastered house had arched windows. From 1872 onwards, all construction work on the property was put in a file, which began with the application for a small back building for a carpenter's workshop and horse stable, as well as a privet to be kept separately. The master masons Heinrich and Wilhelm Krobitzsch took on the design and execution for K. Meyer. In the years 1873/1874 the house received a two-storey extension with plastering, stucco decor on the upper floor, arched windows on the ground floor and corner blocks (participants as in 1872). The new owner Hermann Weinert had a polygonal bay added to the street-side facade in 1893, with a balcony exit on the 1st floor. This extension was translated in 1895 and, as in 1893, carried out by master bricklayer Eduard Steyer. A villa extension with a corner tower on the right side of the building, for which the architect Otto Peter was responsible, is characteristic of the current appearance of the picturesque house. A few days after acquiring the property in May 1899, factory owner Johann Heinrich Grimm initiated this. All roof areas remained slate, the stand bay with tower attachment was placed over the corner. The narrow new building was cleverly connected to the old building, and iron lightning rods, a weather vane and an ornamental grille on the ridge also took on a creative function. Changes to the property in 1926 included the extension (and conversion) of the unused wash house to a single-storey workshop building on the right-hand property boundary, and in 1966 the rear addition of a staircase according to plans by civil engineer Günter Hums. From the summer of 1936 a letter of complaint from the homeowners number 10, 15, 17 about cracks on the buildings on their property, for which they cite the vibrations from traffic as responsible. The renovated residential building number 15 (formerly Zschochersche Straße 3, later Carl-Goerdeler-Straße and Philipp-Müller-Straße 15) has an additional effect of its architecture through the spacious front garden, which is prominently covered with a few strong trees (including older robinia, two plane trees, yew trees and magnolia) as well as a historic quarry stone wall, gate entrance and garage installation in the former workshop building come from GDR times. The buildings and grounds of the early Plagwitz development have an architectural historical value and an urban significance. LfD / 2019
