1901 (tenement), 1899-1900 (outbuilding) Late historic clinker brick facade with plaster and artificial stone incorporations, gate passage, courtyard building a plastered building, former blacksmith's forge, of importance in terms of local development and building history Monument text Two facade designs by master masons and architects FW Heine & Sohn in 1899 for a four-story residential building with a mansard floor were not implemented. Until March 1900, only a ground-level workshop building for the master blacksmith Alfred Edmund Riegert was built on the rear property line, the chimney and forge fire were demolished in 1972 by the VEB Chemieanlagenbau- und Montagekombinat Leipzig, which had set up a motor vehicle workshop here. Riegert now acted as the client for the tenement house built in 1901, the design, statics and construction management of which were the responsibility of the architectural office Handel & Franke. The turning away from the staid first drafts towards a formal language oriented towards the emerging Art Nouveau is clearly evident. The yellow clinker brick facade has strong structural elements, and the original furnishings include a remarkable painting in the entrance area. Another workshop building was built in 1925 for master bookbinder E. Schuberth. Residential building that characterizes the street scene and has architectural value. LfD / 2011 09298722

The “non-profit housing cooperative in Leipzig eGmbH” acted as the client, and the Leipzig architect Arthur Naumann was entrusted with the design and construction management. A building block includes four houses with originally 32 apartments (2-spans). At the beginning of 1941 it was ordered that “from the outset bomb-proof air raid shelters are to be built at the same time as the construction of the new buildings”. In the course of the renovation between 2000 and 2007 (Limburger Str. 13, 15: 2000, Einsteinstr. 3, 5: 2005, Einsteinstr. 1 / Limburger Str. 19: 2006/07), the houses were equipped with balconies on the rear facades, es there were also some changes to the floor plans. The simple, four-storey residential buildings with double windows are, as is typical of the time, completely without decoration and smoothly plastered (in the “old German way”). Only the axes of the central entrances are emphasized by a small projection. The base zone and entrances are faced with Dornreichenbacher quarry stone. The original roof covering with natural brown hollow tiles was replaced by brick-red interlocking tiles during the renovation. In terms of its layout and shape, the settlement is an example of the construction of settlements during the Second World War, where the creation of living space for employees in the war industries was given high priority. 09298845

1926-1928 (villa) Appealing plastered building in Art Deco style, stone structures and style-typical, accentuating decorations, outbuildings effectively aligned with the Karl-Heine Canal, built for the master builder and carpentry business owner Alfred Schurich, of importance in terms of local development and building history, monument text On August 30, 1926, the builder submitted and Entrepreneur Alfred Schurich submitted the plans for his house to the building police department of the city of Leipzig. The shell was accepted on December 1, 1926 and the building test report was issued on July 28, 1927. An annex belonging to the villa is the garage building with servants' apartment in the courtyard, which was built in 1928. As the client and builder, Alfred Schurich took over all functions from the drawing to the execution of both buildings. In terms of facade design, floor plan and dimensions, the factory owner's villa is representative of the size of the company founded in 1876. The building with a basement and two storeys with its main views of Erich-Zeigner-Allee and the canal side is completely plastered except for the clinker base and provided with a differentiated hipped roof with dormer windows. Due to the sloping terrain towards the courtyard and the basement that becomes visible, the building is three-story on this side. The house is accessed via an anteroom, which is freely accessible from Erich-Zeigner-Allee, opens up through a round arched wall and is provided with a straight flight of stairs. The interior of the building is determined by a centrally located vestibule from which the individual rooms on the ground floor can be entered. At the same time, the upper floor is accessible through the introduction of a wooden staircase in the vestibule. The factory owner's villa is subject to an Art Deco architectural structure. On the facade facing Erich-Zeigner-Allee, for example, the roofing windows are designed in the form of gables with straight ends and the resulting gable fields are decorated with stylized pine cones. Window frames and cornices are given profiles. The fencing of the property, which is made of tubular steel and was connected to a fence using profiled crossing pieces, also deserves special attention. The former factory owner's villa is a testimony to the structural development of Plagwitz in the 1920s, which continued to be strongly characterized by an industrial and commercial structure, which gives the property an informative value in terms of local development. As a high-quality and typical example of the architectural design of that time, especially in terms of upscale residential construction, it is also of importance in terms of architectural history. 1891 (pump house) Clinker brick structure with stone and clinker brick divisions, of importance in terms of local development and technology history Monument text As the last building worthy of protection on the extensive property of the former worsted yarn spinning mill Stöhr & Co. (see Zschochersche Strasse 79c, 79d, 79e, Erich-Zeigner-Allee 64 and Wachsmuthstrasse 1-3) The pump house built in 1891 has been preserved. In the middle of a park-like facility, adjacent to the White Elster, there was a large water basin and a pond, which was connected to the pump house via a small canal. The plans submitted in April 1891 were revised and submitted again three weeks later. The building, which was originally planned as a single storey, now had a full basement above a foundation made of quarry stone masonry. Construction manager Karl Pfauder (also statics) and his deputy, Mr. Waldschlegel were responsible. In another modification of the plans, a chimney was also built before the building inspection protocol was signed on September 11, 1891. The picturesque clinker brick building triaxial with an accentuated center, the gable with chevrons. Tamped concrete is expressly mentioned for the false ceiling, the window grilles and access door are original. The building, which has not yet been renovated, is a rarity in Leipzig and is classified as a technical monument. LfD / 2008 09302359

1886-1887 (tenement house) Historic clinker brick facade with plaster and artificial stone integrations, risalit-like corner design with gable ends, street image-defining location, site development and building history of importance Monument text As a representative, formerly free-standing corner building, the tenement house was built on Karl-Heine-Straße from 1886 to 1887 according to designs by Louis Plagwitzer master mason . In the building file, however, a reindeer Wilhelm Schreiber from Wurzen is named as the builder. A landscaped garden on the former forest road (now forest road 1a) took up almost the same area as that of the house. In 1937, the architect Werner Richter installed bathrooms with an accompanying kitchen conversion, in 1994/1995 renovation and loft extension according to plans by H. Schimmel Consulting KG Leipzig. The entrance portal with fruit garland decoration and the axis of the broken corner with exits on the 1st and 2nd floors are particularly distinctive, the historical furnishings have largely been preserved. The well-balanced red brick facade rises above a base made of Cyclops masonry. Architecturally remarkable building in an urban planning location, document of the historicist building structure of the main connecting road Plagwitz-Leipzig. LfD / 2013, 2014 09298879

1936-1937 (tenement) Plastered facade with accentuating clinker brick structure, evidence of rental housing construction during the Nazi era with the aftermath of the modern age of the 1920s, of importance in terms of site development and building history. Monument text building application for an apartment building, "which should contain 8 modern small apartments", was submitted on 11.11.1936 by Marie Charlotte Elsa ehl. Size. The house was built to fill a gap on the former landscaped garden of the neighboring corner house. The architect Werner Richter was responsible for the design and construction management, who submitted new plans after a change proposal from the building advice center of the city planning office, according to which construction could begin in May 1937. Louis Löbe's construction business, with the participation of master builder Paul Grafe, was responsible for the structural calculations of the roof structure. The final exam took place on September 10, 1937. All apartments, two of which are on each floor, are designed to be the same size with 50.72 square meters and have an internal bathroom / toilet. As far as construction is concerned, only a design with reduced decoration was implemented, and a representative broad entrance front made of clinker masonry was dispensed with. On the plastered facade, only the staircase projection and the house entrance door are framed with clinker bricks, quite sparingly and simply. From the originally generous, expressive design of the entrance zone, a facade closer to the idea of a (tax-exempt) inexpensive small apartment building has been implemented. During the renovation, unfortunately, installation for the appearance of incompatible windows and an indisputable house entrance door made of plastic. Socially and historically valuable building from the 1930s. LfD / 2014 09292460

1911/1912 (tenement house) Plastered facade in reform style around 1910, accentuating plaster decor, double bay windows, of importance in terms of site development and building history Monument text On July 24, 1911, the architect Wilhelm Helmholz submitted the building application for a three-storey "front residential building with attic apartment". The building authority approval was granted on October 6th, 1911 and the final acceptance of the finished building took place on March 14th, 1912. The house had been under compulsory administration since March 26, 1913 before it was foreclosed on January 17, 1914. The simple plastered building has only a few cleaned, time-typical decorations such as plastered mirrors, garlands and plaster ribbons. The structure of the facade was mainly achieved through the windows, which are divided into small pieces in the upper area. To the left and right of the central entrance, two biaxial bay windows extend over the two upper floors. The left oriel finds its continuation and at the same time its conclusion in the triangular-crowned attic house of the attic apartment. The building has a multi-part roof landscape and is tiled. The original design envisaged balconies between the bay windows and a front door with a canopy and skylight. The front door, windows and the stairwell are original. The building is located in an urban ensemble of tenement houses from the Wilhelminian era to 1930 and corresponds to the Forststrasse 16 tenement house built at the same time, also designed by Helmholz. It is therefore a testament to the development of the former that began in the 19th century and continued in the 20th Village of Plagwitz to the pronounced urban area and thus embodies a local development-historical value. As a typical example of apartment building architecture in the reform style around 1910, the property is also of importance in terms of architectural history. LfD / 2013 09290842

1911 (tenement) Plastered facade in the reform style around 1910, accentuating plaster decor, double bay windows connected by balconies, of importance in terms of local development and architectural history. Monument text The apartment building was built at the same time as the residential building at Forststraße 14. The building application was approved on 09/20/1911. The building was designed by the Leipzig architect Wilhelm Helmholz. The test report is dated December 6th, 1911. The building came under compulsory administration in 1913 and was foreclosed on 07.02.1914. The three-storey apartment building with a loft has a plastered facade with a simple structure using plastering mirrors and plaster strips. Typical cleaning garlands are located above the front door and in the middle of the two bay windows that extend over the first and second floors. There are semicircular protruding balconies with iron railings between the bay windows. The small windows are indispensable for the architectural idea of the building. The front door, the majority of the windows, the stairwell and the apartment doors have been preserved in the original. The building is part of an urban ensemble of tenement houses from the Wilhelminian era to 1930 and corresponds to the Forststrasse 14 tenement house built at the same time, also designed by Helmholz, thus referring to the development of the former village of Plagwitz that began in the 19th century and continued in the 20th pronounced urban area and, under this aspect, has significance for the history of local development. As a typical representative of apartment building in the reform style around 1910, the property is also significant in terms of architectural history. LfD / 2013 09290843

1929/1930 (coal dealer), 1929/1930 (enclosure), 1929/1930 (pavement) Part of a structural and image-defining architectural ensemble in the former Plagwitz industrial area (see Konsumzentrale Plagwitz, Industriestraße 85-95, object 09264092), of importance in terms of building history and site development, also evidence of the supply history of Leipzig, belonging to the consumer center opposite Plagwitz Monument text on the acute-angled property between street and Industrial track was produced by Stahlfederfabrik Leo Nachf., And in 1929 the consumer association Leipzig-Plagwitz und Umgegend eGmbH, located on the opposite side of Jahnstrasse, took over the property. The one- and two-storey factory buildings were to be converted or demolished, and a coal transfer point was to be created. The joint use of the railway's own premises for a loading ramp to be built was approved by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft, Reichsbahndirektion Dresden. The coal storage facility and the coal conveyor system were approved by the building authorities, and the permission to use the "Coal transfer point Jahnstrasse 84" (former location was Jahnstrasse 91) was dated July 8, 1930. The coal, according to the explanation of the operational sequence, should roll up in railway wagons, mostly brought directly onto cars and "transported to the individual parts of the city". A smaller part was intended to be transported on conveyor belts and poured into storage boxes, as well as afterwards "a cent to the western parts of the city". There was only a factory office and toilets for employees, as it was possible to share the premises in the consumer building directly opposite. All walls should be faced and jointed with building blocks, the roof should consist of an iron structure with wooden rafters, formwork and cardboard covering. Crawler skylights brought natural light into the warehouse, which was closed with wooden sliding doors. All of the open area was paved, and an approximately two-meter-high fence with shell facing was added to today's Industriestrasse. Concrete pillars with removable wooden fence panels stood facing the track. The main building on the street side matches the color scheme and choice of a clinker brick facade to the consumer center on the opposite, Industriestraße 85-91, designed by the Hamburg architect Fritz Höger, but is much more functional. In 1929 Reinhold & Patzschke contributed static calculations for the iron construction, and Thyssen Eisen- und Stahl-Aktiengesellschaft Leipzig branch for the support structure of the coal conveyor belts. In 1954, reconstruction work became necessary because damage had occurred due to a fire; for 1958, due to overcrowding in the underground car park in the consumer center, the new use as a garage for around twenty-five vehicles is under discussion. The loading ramp on the track side is still preserved. The ensemble is significant in terms of architectural history and as a testimony to Leipzig's supply history. LfD / 2018 09306739

around 1859 (residential building) Formerly with shop fitting, historicized plastered building with plastered and stone structures, of importance in terms of local development, building history and art history Monument text The single, simple residential building was built by Karl Heine when the Leipziger Allee (today Karl-Heine-Straße) was opened up and in 1859 to Dr. Röschke sells. The cubic structure with a square floor plan was originally completed with a flat pyramid roof, which was replaced by a mansard roof in 1932. 1939 Shop installation on the ground floor. The building was probably newly plastered, although the exterior was probably kept simple before. In the case of recent renovations, the original facade design was almost restored. With the exception of the shop fitting, the interior has largely been preserved in its old form, and the clear structure of the floor plan is remarkable. A hall or salon facing the street as the center of the sequence of rooms on the floors. This disposition is reflected on the main front, where a flat central projection is formed across the width of the central rooms. The window axes are also arranged here in accordance with the symmetry of the interior. As a country house, the building was once surrounded by a garden. Today only the rear part remains. The former stable and coach house is located on the edge of the property. The two-storey building, the front of which is marked with a triangular gable, is probably a little younger than the residential building. Its windows are closed with a rounded arch and the facade is structured in plaster. In 1901 the sculptor August Louis Schmiemann had the building converted into an apartment and studio. Later it was used as a garage in the front part. The house is likely to be the oldest building on Karl-Heine-Strasse, which was laid out shortly after 1856. It bears witness to the beginnings of the development of the western suburbs initiated by Karl Heine around the villages of Lindenau and Plagwitz, which played an essential role in Leipzig's urban development in the following decades. This gives it an important historical informational value. As an example of the country house architecture around the middle of the 19th century, which has meanwhile become rare in Leipzig, it is also of architectural significance. The adjoining building in its function as a sculptor's studio is a testimony to the Leipzig art scene around 1900. LfD / 2013 09264395

1869-1870 (villa) neo-Gothic plastered building with stone and plaster divisions, of importance in terms of local development and building history Monument text In the summer of 1869, the book printer's owner Emil Stephan submitted the building application for a residential building and a side building, with a 'staircase extended to the rear'. The wash house was set up in the continuously vaulted cellar, on the ground floor there was to be space next to the typesetter room and the presses as well as a small office. For the upper floor, the master bricklayer Ms. L. Winkler designed a private apartment and only chambers were planned in the attic. Almost a year later, the building was ready to move into. In addition to living rooms and bedrooms, there was a vestibule with a skylight on the first floor, as well as a kitchen, pantry, girls' room, cloakroom, built-in cupboard and the privet. In 1884, the architect Max Bösenberg provided plans for a new printing house to be built on the property to the rear, but this was never implemented. On the other hand, the elegant villa was rebuilt in 1903 on behalf of factory owner Richard Otto Flügel and according to plans by architect Julius Zeißig. For 1933/1934 an apartment division in the ground floor rooms is on record, as well as another 1935 to 1936 for the conversion of the house into a two-family house with a flat in the attic. Building officer Anton Käppler, architect and builder Hermann Böttcher and the company Carl Brömme worked here. VEB Blechverformungswerk set up a day nursery on the ground floor between 1954 and 1958, and also had a new heating chimney installed. Even today, the house has been able to retain its charm thanks to the neo-Gothic facade, which is seldom so stylish in Leipzig. Shaped natural stone parts frame windows and doors and structure the plastered brick building, the entire facade was covered with a layer of paint. The cement stone paving of the (parking lot) courtyard and the coarse windows, especially the courtyard and gable sides, are not conducive to the appearance of the remarkable house. The architecturally valuable building with architectural and street design value. LfD / 2014 09264110
