This is a list of cities in East Timor .

Overview

By far the largest agglomeration in East Timor is Dili . 234,331 inhabitants live in the municipality (as of 2010). This means that 22% of the country's people live in the capital region. The capital Dili has a population of 193,563. This corresponds to 18% of the country's population.

In the past, places with more than 1,000 inhabitants were listed as cities, such as Dare in the municipality of Dili or Bobonaro in the municipality of the same name . Meanwhile, 38 are Sucos defined as urban, almost all of which are grouped around the main towns of the municipalities. The only exception is Maubisse in the north of the municipality of Ainaro .

For 2010, the population of the places indicated as cities in the report on the 2010 census, which are formed from the 38 urban sucos. In 2015 there was a restructuring of the administrative units, so that there were some major shifts.
