List of the largest companies in Africa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Largest Companies in Africa list includes the largest publicly traded companies in Africa published by Forbes Magazine on the Forbes Global 2000 list .

The ranking of the annual list of the 2000 largest publicly traded companies in the world is calculated from a combination of sales , net profit , assets and market value . The placements of the companies in the equally weighted categories were added together to form a rank. The table also shows the headquarters , the number of employees and the industry . The figures are in billion US dollars and relate to the 2016 financial year , for the market value to the stock exchange price in May 2017.

It should also be noted that Forbes Magazine's list actually only includes publicly traded companies. For example, the Algerian state-owned oil and gas company Sonatrach had sales of USD 76.1 billion in 2012, many times the top-selling company on this list.
