List of the largest lakes in Switzerland
The list of the largest lakes in Switzerland includes all lakes in Switzerland with an area of over 1 km². The extremes are highlighted in bold.
The largest Swiss lake is Lake Geneva with 345.31 km² Swiss share. The Swiss part of Lake Constance has never been determined without controversy. The Swiss shore of Lake Constance is 72 km compared to 173 km from Germany and 28 km from Austria, about a quarter of the total bank. The Federal Statistical Office , which is based on the real division theory , gives the Swiss share of the area at 172.86 km². This makes Lake Constance the third largest lake in Switzerland after Lake Neuchâtel . Lake Neuchâtel is the largest lake that lies entirely in Switzerland.
Storage lakes or reservoirs are not listed here, see the list of storage lakes in Switzerland . The list of lakes in Switzerland includes all lists of lakes in the individual cantons.
The spelling of the lakes follows - partly in contrast to the Duden and German maps - that of Switzerland .
