List of Portuguese ambassadors in Ethiopia

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in Ethiopia lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in Ethiopia . The countries have had direct diplomatic relations since 1959, which were only resumed in 1984 after the break in 1963 and which go back to the first relations between the two countries in 1493.

The first ambassador of Portugal was accredited in 1959 in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa . The Portuguese legation there became a full embassy in 1960 . It was closed again in 1963 after relations were broken off as a result of the Portuguese colonial wars . After the resumption of relations in 1984, the Portuguese representative in Kenya received a second accreditation in Ethiopia until the opening of the Portuguese embassy in Addis Ababa in 2002.
