List of Portuguese ambassadors in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in the Democratic Republic of the Congo lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ( Zaire between 1971 and 1997 ). The countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 1960, which go back to the arrival of the Portuguese sailors on the Congo River in 1482 and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Portugal and the Kingdom of Congo from 1491 .

A Portuguese representative was accredited for the first time in 1960 in the Congolese capital Léopoldville (since 1966 Kinshasa ). The Portuguese embassy resides at 270 avenue des Aviateurs in La Gombe , one of the municipalities of the capital Kinshasa . The embassy is also responsible for a number of other African countries.
