List of Portuguese ambassadors in Tanzania

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in Tanzania lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in Tanzania . The countries have had direct diplomatic relations since 1975, which go back to the arrival of the Portuguese explorers in 1498 as the first Europeans in what is now Tanzania.

The first ambassador of Portugal was accredited in 1978 in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam . Portugal did not open its own embassy there, Tanzania belongs to the administrative district of the Portuguese ambassador in Mozambique , who is receiving second accreditation in Tanzania (as of 2019). The Portuguese Ambassador to Kenya was responsible for Tanzania between 1992 and 2012 .
