List of fountains in Innsbruck
The list of fountains in Innsbruck contains the fountains in the city of Innsbruck that are historically significant or artistically designed.
Since the surrounding springs belonged to independent communities at the time, the townspeople originally obtained their drinking water from draw wells . Due to the increasing pollution of these wells, the city acquired several springs located in Höttinger municipality at the end of the 15th century and had a water pipe laid in the city. In 1485 the first fountain stood on the town square. From the 16th century, water from Mühlau was also fed into the city. From the Baroque period onwards, the fountains were partly artistically designed and decorative fountains were built that were not primarily used to supply drinking water. The fountain figures include saints, animals, and mythical and fairy tale characters.
The sortable list contains the name, the location (district and street / square), the artist, the year of completion or installation, as well as further information. If a fountain (as an independent object and not just part of an ensemble) is under monument protection, a link in the Comments column leads to the corresponding entry in the list of monuments.
