List of hotels in Warsaw
This list of hotels in Warsaw includes major hotels in the Polish capital, Warsaw .
Warsaw hotel history
During the Second World War , Warsaw's inner city was largely destroyed. The most important hotels in the city (often still used by the German occupiers in the early years of the war) also fell victim to the bombing and grenade fire and the systematic destruction of the building fabric during and after the Warsaw Uprising by fire by German troops. After the war, only three major pre-war hotels were rebuilt: Hotel Bristol , Hotel Europejski and Hotel Polonia . In two other historical buildings, larger hotels were set up - changing their original use: Hotel Warszawa and Hotel Saski .

People's Republic of Poland
In the era of socialism , modern hotel buildings were built. In the style of Socialist Realism was Hotel MDM built. Shortly before the introduction of the new architectural ideology, the monumental Grand Hotel Orbis was built . From 1972 the Swedish construction company Skanska built the Hotel Forum for the Polish state tourism group Orbis , and from 1974 the Hotel Victoria . The hotels Belwederski, Gromada Centrum (Dom Chłopa), Metropol, Solec and Parkowa date from the 1960s and 1970s. The first joint venture with a western hotel chain was the Marriott Hotel , which was built in 1980 . Here the Polish state airline LOT was the Polish partner.
Third Polish Republic
After the fall of the Wall, large foreign hotel chains opened up the Warsaw market. The French company Accor took over shares in the Orbis Group and now operates old and new hotels under the Accor brands Sofitel , Mercure , Novotel , Ibis and Etap . The US hotel groups Starwood (with the brands Le Méridien , Sheraton and Westin ), InterContinental (with the brands Holiday Inn and InterContinental), Hyatt , Hilton and Marriott (with the second brand Courtyard ) built modern large hotels in the 1990s and 2000s , often with conference space. Best Western has a franchise partner in Warsaw's Praga district . The Austrian construction company Ilbau took over the Warsaw hotel group Syrena from the city and renovated the Polonia and MDM hotels. The Belgian Rezidor Hotel Group operates two Radisson Blu hotels, the Dutch Golden Tulip Group one. In addition, small boutique hotels were built in historic buildings, such as the Rialto or the Mamaison Hotel Le Regina .
Warsaw hotel market
Despite the realization of many hotel projects in the 2000s, experts still see a need for new investments. The Polish capital still has significantly fewer hotel beds than comparable cities in the region such as Vienna, Prague or Budapest. There is still some catching up to do, especially in the lower mid-price segment (e.g. for family holidays). The Accor / Orbis group, which is strongly represented in Warsaw, is therefore increasingly focusing its strategy on simpler hotels. The group's development plans also include the sale of hotel buildings. Orbis intends to continue to manage the upper-class hotels of the Sofitel and Novotel brands, while cheaper Ibis and Etap hotels, on the other hand, are only to be operated on a lease basis. The group is also considering the use of franchise models.
The room prices in Warsaw are still low compared to other major European cities. The RevPAR (revenue per available room) of EUR 61 was only undercut in 2007 by the cities of Riga (EUR 49) and Budapest (EUR 56).
listing
This list contains Warsaw hotels that have a 5-star categorization, have more than 100 rooms or have special historical significance. A distinction is made between luxury hotels (5 stars) and mid-range hotels (up to 4 stars). Significant former hotels are recorded separately. The lists can be sorted: by clicking on a column header, the list is sorted according to this column, clicking twice reverses the sorting. Combination can also be achieved by clicking two columns in a row.
