Surname
The name Luchsingen is of Alemannic origin. This suggests a settlement around 800 to 1000 AD. As with all place names on -ingen, -ikon, -igen etc., Luchsingen is also originally a farm. The prefix "Luchs-" leads back to the Alemanni Luzzo. Luchsingen does not derive its name directly from the lynx, but from a person who was named after this animal (possibly because of its strong properties).
