Obstalden is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland .
As part of the Glarus community reform , the village was merged with the communities of Bilten , Filzbach , Mollis , Mühlehorn , Näfels , Niederurnen and Oberurnen to form the new community of Glarus Nord on January 1, 2011 .

The center of the local community Obstalden is 685 m above sea level. M. on a terrace of the Kerenzerberg high above the Walensee . The municipality has five hamlets: Hüttenberge , Walenguflen , Nidstalden , Voglingen and Mühletal . The Mürtschenstock , which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Glarus Thrust , is located on the territory of the municipality .
Obstalden together with Mühlehorn and Filzbach form the Kerenzerberg region .
traffic
Obstalden is located on the main road from Mollis to Mühlehorn. The next connection to the A3 motorway is around two kilometers away in Mühlehorn. The community is integrated into the public transport network by a bus line operated by the Glarus bus company from Mollis to Mühlehorn.
history
The first written mention of Obstalden comes from the year 1340 in the land register of the Säkingen monastery.
As a Reformed pastor in Obstalden worked from 1916 to 1924 who later became a theology professor Emil Brunner .
