Louis VI. (Hessen-Darmstadt)
Louis VI. von Hessen-Darmstadt (born January 25, 1630 in Darmstadt ; † April 24, 1678 ibid) was Landgrave of Hessen-Darmstadt from 1661 until his death .
Life
Ludwig was the eldest son of Landgrave Georg II of Hesse-Darmstadt (1605–1661) from his marriage to Sophie Eleonore (1609–1671), daughter of Elector Johann Georg I of Saxony . After the death of his father in 1661 he became Landgrave of Hessen-Darmstadt.
In 1661 he was accepted into the Fruit-Bringing Society by Duke Wilhelm IV of Saxe-Weimar . The intrepid was given to him as a company name and as a motto before heat and cold . As an emblem he was wooden Mangold allotted. Landgrave Ludwig's entry can be found in the Koethen society book under the number 774. In society he became a close friend of Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha , whose sister he married in 1666, and was also active as a writer. After the death of his first wife, he wrote numerous poems.
In 1669 he set up a stud in Wembach and equipped the landgrave's estate in Wembach with a hunting and pleasure house in 1671 , Landgrave Ludwig VI. liked to stay in Wembach and used the estate to relax. The estate was so developed that the Landgrave could use it as a residence at any time. Head of this work on Hofgut to Wembach consisting had feet coming Maurer Thomas Kraft.
He called the theologian and Pietist Johann Winckler to Homburg as pastor and appointed Wolfgang Carl Briegel to be his court conductor. The palace and court library in Darmstadt was actually established through his purchase of the library of Johann Michael Moscherosch . In 1662 he finally acquired the rule of Eberstadt with Frankenstein Castle . In the same year he had the bell in Darmstadt Castle built.
Landgrave Ludwig VI died at the age of 48. of Hessen-Darmstadt on April 24, 1678 in Darmstadt. In his will he had chosen his second wife to be regent and buried two aristocratic and two learned councilors with her.

Ludwig VI married on November 24, 1650. Maria Elisabeth von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf (1634–1665), daughter of Friedrich III. from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . They had eight children together:

Since December 5, 1666, Ludwig VI. married to Elisabeth Dorothea von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg (1640–1709), daughter of Ernst I von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg .
