Manuel Klinge (born September 5, 1984 in Kassel ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing in the DEL2 for the Kassel Huskies since 2011 . However, due to a serious knee injury, he is currently not active as a player. He is currently acting in the role of team manager.
Career
The 1.86 m tall winger began his career with the Kassel Huskies, for which he completed his first DEL appearances in the 2003/04 season . In 2006 he scored his first DEL goal and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with Hessen . At the end of this season, the right-handed shooter also played with a promotion license in the upper league at ETC Crimmitschau and helped them get promoted back to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the following season he made his breakthrough when he became one of the team's top scorers with 63 pts. In 2008 , the huskies made it into the DEL, so that Klinge and the North Hesse team went back to the DEL in the following seasons.
With the announcement of the takeover of the Kassel Huskies by the new owner Dennis Rossing in February 2010, Manuel Klinge extended his contract in Kassel for a further three years until 2013. Due to the insolvency of the Kassel Huskies, Klinge moved to the Adler Mannheim in August 2010 . There he played an average season. In the following season he surprisingly switched back to the huskies in the third-rate ice hockey league . This gave him the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship alongside his sporting activities. With 103 points in 38 games, Klinge quickly became a hoped-for high performer. The envisaged promotion to the DEL2 only succeeded in 2014. In the 2015/16 season he won the DEL2 championship title with Kassel.
International
In 2008 Manuel Klinge made the leap into the German national team , for which he initially played a few friendly matches. Due to an injury - caused by Josh Langfeld's unsportsmanlike behavior shortly before the end of the DEL main round in 2008/09 - Manuel Klinge had to cancel a World Cup participation in Switzerland.
In February 2010 he took part with the national team in the ice hockey tournament of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver . Here he played together with Kai Hospelt and Marcel Müller in the fourth attack row. In the quarter-final qualifier he scored a goal against the eventual Olympic champion Canada. At the end of this year he played his last games in the national team for the time being.
