Marco Steeger (born in Bayreuth ) is a German actor , voice actor , director , acting teacher, coach and author .

Career

Steeger gained his first theater experience as a schoolboy from 1993 to 1995 in the Brandenburger Kulturstadl and at the Naturbühne Trebgast and from 1995 to 1998 at the Studiobühne Bayreuth and acted as a singer in the school punk band Underpigs.

After graduating from the Graf-Münster-Gymnasium , Steeger received his diploma as an actor at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . During his studies, Steeger played in Stuttgart from 1997 to 1999 at the Wilhelma Theater and from 1999 to 2002 at the State Theater .

The then acting director of the Nuremberg Municipal Theaters (since 2005 State Theater) Klaus Kusenberg discovered Steeger during his diploma examination. He engaged Steeger, who has participated in 76 productions in 18 years. With the change of artistic director in 2018, Steeger also left the State Theater and since then has mainly worked at the theater in Stuttgart under the artistic director Axel Preuss.

Steeger operates independently as a freelance actor and director. He can be seen in Tatort and Der Alte, among others. As a narrator , he dubbed actors like Justin Timberlake and spoke the character of the kitchen gnome Pimpernell in the series of the Augsburger Puppenkiste " Lilalu im Schepperland ". Steger is active as a radio, audio book and radio play speaker as well as in advertising. Steeger has been speaking for film translations and supporting programs for the planetarium in Nuremberg since 2010 .

Teaching activities

From 2001 to 2015 Steeger volunteered in youth work. Together with the youth club of the Nuremberg State Theater, he worked out the basics of acting and staged six plays, two of which he wrote himself.

Steeger taught at a regional drama school and was a lecturer at the Würzburg University of Music.

Activity as a director

Steeger has been a director on various stages in southern Germany since 2002.

He gained his first experience as a director with his youth work. In 2016 Steeger staged "Nathan's Children" by Ulrich Hub in a cooperation between the State Theater in Nuremberg and the Gostner Court Theater . This was followed by the pieces “We all together forever” by Guus Kuijer and “The boy with the suitcase” by Mike Kenny. In 2019 the collaboration with the Nuremberg State Theater ended. Henning Mankell's “The Unscrupulous Murderer Hasse Karlsson…” was performed at the Court Theater and Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt's “Little Marital Crime” was performed at the Ansbacher Theater .

Awards

In 2003, Steeger was awarded the Central Franconian Theater Prize of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as “Best Actor of the Year” and from the AZ with the critical award as “Most versatile actor”. 2006 was honored by AZ as "Actor of the Year" and received the special prize for portraying the clones in the play "The Copies". In 2007 Steeger received the Bavarian Art Prize from the Bavarian State Ministry . At the Bayrische Theatertage in 2007 he was honored for the play "Burns" and in the following year as "Best Actor".
