Martin Bojadschiew ( Bulgarian Мартин Бояджиев ; born May 11, 1987 ) is a Bulgarian ice hockey player who has been under contract with SK Irbis-Skate in the Bulgarian ice hockey league since 2015 . In addition to his active career, he also works as a coach for Bulgarian youngsters.

Career

Martin Bojadschiew began his career as an ice hockey player at HK Slavia Sofia , for whom he made his debut in the Bulgarian ice hockey league at the age of 16 and with whom he immediately became Bulgarian national champion and cup winner in 2004. After spending the 2004/05 season at local rivals HK CSKA Sofia , he returned to Slavia and won four more national championship titles and three cup wins with his team by 2011. After a short detour to Truva Ankara in the Turkish Super League , he has been playing for HK CSKA Sofia since 2012, with whom he was able to win the double of national championship and cup win once again in 2013 and 2014 and the championship in 2015. At the Continental Cup 2014/15 he and his team won the first round, which was held in the home winter sports palace, by winning over CG Puigcerdà from Spain (3: 2), İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi SK from Turkey (19: 2) and win the Serbian representative HK Beostar (10: 2). In the second round, which was held in the Bremerhaven ice arena , he then lost all three games with ZSKA, although the encounter with the Tilburg Trappers from the Netherlands was only lost in the final minute after a 4-2 lead. In 2015 he moved to the new league SK Irbis-Skate , who also comes from Sofia. With Irbis-Skate he was also Bulgarian champion in 2016 and 2017.

International

In the junior division, Boyajev played for Bulgaria in Division III of the U-18 World Championships in 2004 and 2005 and the U-20 World Championships in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 .

With the Bulgarian men's national team , he took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2015 , when he was the second best assist of the tournament after the Mexican Adrián Cervantes , and in 2016 as well competed in Division III tournaments in 2014 , 2017 and 2018 when he was named the best defender of the tournament. At the 2015 World Cup, he led the Bulgarians onto the ice as team captain. He was also on the ice during the Olympic qualifications for the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 . In the 9-1 win against Georgia on October 10, 2015 in the first qualifying game for the games in Pyeongchan, he was involved in a total of eight of the nine Bulgarian goals: he scored two goals himself and prepared six. Through this success, he and his team qualified for the pre-qualification tournament in Tallinn in November 2015 , in which the Bulgarian selection met Estonia , Mexico and Israel and were eliminated as the group bottom.

At the U18 World Championships in 2015 he was assistant coach and in 2018 head coach of the Bulgarian team in Division III.
