Martin Cullen ( Irish Máirtín Ó Cuilinn , born November 2, 1954 in Waterford , County Waterford ) is a former Irish politician and former minister in several departments, most recently the one for arts, sports and tourism.

Cullen attended Educated Waterpark College and Waterford Regional Technical College (now: Waterford Institute of Technology ). In 1987 he was first elected to the Dáil Éireann for the Progressive Democrats and was a member of the Seanad Éireann from 1989 to 1992 . In addition, Cullen was from 1991 to 1997 a member of the Waterford City Council ( Waterford City Council ) and held the office of mayor from 1993 to 1994. In the past, his father and grandfather also held the mayor's office. In 1992 Cullens was re-elected to the Dáil Éireann. At the same time he became Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. In the first half of the 1990s, Cullen resigned from the party and joined Fianna Fáil due to his increasing dissatisfaction with party leader Mary Harney . In 2002, Minister of State Cullen became Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government for the first time as a member of the Cabinet. In September 2004 he moved to the post of Minister of Transport. After the 2007 elections, Cullen moved to the post of Minister for Social Affairs and Family before becoming Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism in the cabinet of the new Taoiseach Brian Cowen in May 2008 . On March 8, 2010, Cullen announced his resignation as minister and member of parliament for health reasons, and resigned from government and parliament on March 23 as part of a cabinet reshuffle.

Cullen is divorced; he became the father of three sons and one daughter.
