Menderes Bağcı [ mendeˈɾes baːˈd͡ʒɯ ], commonly known by his first name Menderes , (born November 13, 1984 in Langenfeld ) is a German entertainer of Turkish descent. He became known for his continuous participation in the casting shows of Deutschland sucht den Superstar . In January 2016, Menderes participated in the tenth season of the reality show I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here! participated and was voted the “ Jungle King ” by the audience .

Life

Menderes was born in Langenfeld in the Rhineland . His parents named him after the family name of the first freely elected Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes . After his parents divorced, he moved to Pegnitz with his mother at the age of four . When he was ten years old, he moved back to his father in Langenfeld, who died in 2008. After Menderes finished school with a qualifying secondary school diploma, he trained as a gas station attendant . He suffers from ulcerative colitis , a chronic inflammatory bowel disease .

Germany seeks the superstar

In 2002 Menderes attended the casting of the first DSDS season and sang the track I Can't Let You Go by Usher . The jury at the time was unanimously of the opinion that his voice was not suitable for professional singing. Participation in all the following seasons of DSDS followed, through which Menderes increased his level of awareness. During the auditions he often interpreted songs by his idol Michael Jackson . On March 31, 2007 Menderes appeared during a themed show of the 4th season of DSDS out of competition with the song Beat It by Michael Jackson. In the final broadcast of the 4th season he sang the Jackson hit Bad .

In the eighth season he received two of the three jury votes in 2011 and thus reached the "recall", but where he was eliminated. In the final broadcast of the 8th season in 2011, he appeared with the title Yummy Yummy Yummy by Ohio Express . In 2012 he came into the recall with the maximum number of three jury votes, but was eliminated again. In the tenth season, which took place in 2013, he was eliminated from the casting with one of four jury votes.

In his eleventh participation in 2014, Menderes reached the second recall round for the first time. After he had reached the first recall with three out of four jury votes, he received one of three wildcards for participation in the round of the Top 33, which took place in Cuba , but was eliminated there in the first round with another candidate. In 2015 he reached the recall with three out of four jury votes and was eliminated there. In 2016 he did not reach the recall. In 2017 he reached the international recall in Dubai with 3 out of 4 jury votes , but was eliminated there. In the casting of the 15th season he sang a medley of his previously performed songs out of competition, because he could no longer participate due to the reintroduced age limit of 30 years.

In 2014 he performed together with other former candidates at two concerts "DSDS - Live on Tour" in Austria.

In 2004 and 2009 Menderes took part in the competition format Popstars . In 2004 he reached the second round, in which he was eliminated. In 2008 he also took part in the Singing Bee show. Nowadays it is mainly booked for private parties, weddings and discos. In 2009 he worked for the program Mitten im Leben as an animator in Crete . In 2011 he was featured as a dancer in the music video for Everybody Dance Now! from plastic funk to see.

From 2009 to 2010 Menderes could be seen in the play Stars United at Kampnagel in Hamburg. In addition to Menderes, other failed casting participants appeared in the play and parodied casting shows. On February 16, 2010 he was looking for an apartment in the pseudo-docu-soap Rent, Buy, Live by VOX . In 2015 he released the single Queen of my Heart . In 2016 he took part in the RTL program Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! part and emerged victorious. At the same time he released his first German-language single Mittendrin .

In 2020 Menderes moderated on RTL DSDS - The great reunion . On the show, Menderes met with the most popular candidates from 17 years of DSDS .
