Michael Fairman (born February 25, 1934 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor and screenwriter . His work includes almost 150 appearances in films and television series.

Life

Fairman was born in New York City in 1934. He began his career in 1965 with an appearance in the television movie They've Killed President Lincoln! . One of his first important productions was the crime film The Anderson Clan , where he was seen in a minor supporting role as Sergeant Claire . This was followed by guest appearances in television series such as Charlie's Angels , The A-Team and Knight Rider . In the years that followed, Fairman appeared in several dozen of such series and television films. From 1984 to 1988 he appeared in the role of Deputy Inspector Knelman in Cagney & Lacey . From 1986 to 1994 he was Judge Douglas McGrath in LA Law - Star Lawyers, Tricks, Trials .

In addition to his television career, Fairman was also occasionally seen in feature films. In 2000 he played the UN Ambassador Adlai Ewing Stevenson junior in the political thriller Thirteen Days , followed by a small supporting role as Jason in Mulholland Drive in 2001. In 2007 he played the funeral director Henry Walken in the horror film Dead Silence . In 2010, Fairman was seen as Lumpy Feldstein in three episodes of the television series Sons of Anarchy . There were also other guest appearances in series such as Monk and Bones - The Bone Hunter . One of his best-known roles is that of Patrick Murphy in the soap opera Shadow of Passion , which he played in 188 episodes from 2008 to 2017.

Fairman has been dubbed by various speakers throughout his career. Most often Gerd Holtenau spoke to him . In his most famous film appearances, Thirteen Days and Dead Silence , he was dubbed by Horst Sachtleben and Norbert Gastell , respectively .

In addition to his acting career, Fairman also works as a screenwriter. For example, from 1978 to 1982 he wrote the screenplay for five episodes of the US television series WKRP in Cincinnati and in 1983 for the television film Found Money .

Fairman was a member of the Church of Scientology for many years and also starred in some of their commercials. In January 2011, he left Scientology after, according to his own statements, questioning the organization's methods since 2009 and coming into conflict with other members.
