Career

society

Born in the Brazilian hinterland but raised in Belo Horizonte , Millene began her career at the age of fifteen in the offspring of the Atlético Mineiro club , with whom she won the national championship of Minas Gerais twice in a row from 2011 onwards in the first team . She contributed three goals to the first title win. After Atlético's women's football department was dissolved, she moved to the SERC in Chapadão do Sul , with which she won the 2014 Mato Grosso do Sul national championship. That same year, she moved to Neves FC in Ribeirão das Neves , for whom she scored a goal in the 2014 Brazilian Cup .

For the 2015 season, Millene moved to Rio Preto EC , for which she made her debut on April 25, 2015 in the São Paulo state championship in a 1-0 win against Ferroviária . She scored her first goal on May 17, 2015 in an 11-0 win against América FC from São Manuel. In the following national championship, Millene appeared twelve times and contributed three goals to the title win. With ten goals in the 2016 championship, she became the top scorer and played a key role in making it back to the finals of the Rio Preto EC, which, however, was lost to the CR Flamengo . She scored eleven goals in seventeen games in the 2016 São Paulo state championship, and scored eleven times in twenty-three appearances to defend her title in 2017.

On New Year's Day 2018, the move from Millene to SC Corinthians in São Paulo was announced. In her first competitive game on April 25, 2018 in Série A1 against São Francisco EC , she also scored her first goal for Corinthians. With her new club Millene reached the final of the national championship for the third time in her first season, where she met her ex-club Rio Preto. In the second leg at the Estádio Alfredo Schürig on October 26, 2018, she scored the fastest final goal in championship history after just seventeen seconds. Millene scored a memorable goal on August 21, 2019 in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Série A1 at the Estádio Alfredo Schürig against São José EC for the 1-0 victory of SC Corinthians. As her 19th goal of the season, she exceeded the record number of goals set by Florencia Soledad Jaimes in the 2017 season within a championship season. And as her 46th goal, she overtook her team-mate Gabi Nunes in the all-time table of scorers in the A1 series, which she now occupies first. Furthermore, this goal sealed the 28th consecutive victory (Série A1 and national championship) of SC Corinthinas, which exceeded the world record of competitive victories in a row held by the men of The New Saints FC from Wales . At the end of the 2019 season, Millene was named Player of the Year.

In pursuit of a commitment abroad, Millene announced her departure from Corinthians on January 2, 2020 after the end of the contract. On January 17th, she traveled to Wuhan, China, and signed a preliminary contract with the Wuhan Jiangda WFC , where she was to replace her compatriot Byanca Brasil as an offensive force. On January 23, the city was quarantined after the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic and the club decided not to sign the final contract because of the uncertainty surrounding regular play in the Chinese league. On February 1, Millene was able to leave the country with a Portuguese-French tour group and travel via Marseille to Portugal, where she had to go into quarantine in Lisbon in the Hospital de Pulido Valente, which she was able to leave again on February 15. On February 21, 2019, she renewed her commitment to Corinthians for the 2020 season.

National team

In November 2016, Emily Lima appointed Millene to the senior squad for the four-nation tournament in Manaus (December 2016). Her first international appearance was when she came on as a substitute in the 6-0 win against Costa Rica on December 7, 2016.

National coach Vadão appointed Millene to the squad for the South American Championship , which was held in Chile in April 2018 , in which she made two appearances. In the 7-0 win against Bolivia on April 13, 2018 at the Estadio Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso , her eighth international appearance, she scored her first international goal. After she was not considered for the squad for the World Cup in France despite her persistent form , she only returned to international appearances under the new national coach Pia Sundhage on the occasion of the four-nation tournament in August 2019.
