The Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (abbreviation: MWIDE NRW ) is one of twelve ministries of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia . The acting state minister in the Laschet cabinet has been Andreas Pinkwart ( FDP ) since June 30, 2017 .
The Ministry was re-established in its current form as an independent Ministry of Economics in 2012 as part of the formation of the Kraft II cabinet . Until 2012, his areas of competence were part of the dissolved Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
Seat
The Ministry of Economic Affairs is based in Düsseldorf's government district , not far from the state parliament on Mannesmannufer in the Mannesmann high-rise building of the same name (also known as the Vodafone high-rise building) on the Rhine . The former Mannesmann and Vodafone corporate building at Berger Allee 25 is a post-war building (1956–1958) and has been owned by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2008 . It has housed the ministerial administration since 2012.
management
As State Minister under Prime Minister Armin Laschet ( CDU ), Andreas Pinkwart ( FDP ) has been the head of office since June 30, 2017. He is supported by a State Secretary.
Task profile and organization
The tasks range from location and structural policy through the manufacturing industry, services and start-up support to foreign trade and general economic policy. It is also responsible for the energy industry, nuclear energy and mining.
The ministry consists of six departments:
- I. Central Department
- II. Economic Policy
- III. Location politics, digitization, industry, services, lead markets
- IV. Structural policy, small and medium-sized businesses and crafts
- V. Energy industry, nuclear technology and mining
- VI. Foreign trade
Subordinate authorities and state institutions
The subordinate area includes the State Geological Service North Rhine-Westphalia , State Measurement and Calibration Service NRW (LBME) and the Materials Testing Office NRW (MPA). In addition, the ministry oversees Department 6 - Mining and Energy of the Arnsberg District Government and parts of Department 34 of the Arnsberg , Detmold , Düsseldorf , Cologne and Münster district governments .
history
The department goes back to the economics and partly to the reconstruction and transport ministry of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, all three of which were founded in 1946. Over the years, the state government partially merged these ministries in various constellations, separated them again and expanded them to include new areas of responsibility.
From 2010 to 2012 there was for the first time only a single ministry that was responsible for economy, construction and transport at the same time, the Ministry for economy, energy, building, housing and transport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . With the formation of the Kraft II cabinet , this super ministry was dissolved and divided between two newly formed departments. As a result, the Ministry for Building, Housing, Urban Development and Transport and the Ministry for Economy, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Crafts described here were created.
After the state elections in 2017 and the formation of a black and yellow state government under Armin Laschet ( CDU ), the ministry was renamed again and its competencies changed. It now operates as the Ministry for Economy, Innovation, Digitization and Energy under Minister Andreas Pinkwart ( FDP ).
