Monumenta Serica Monograph Series

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Monumenta Serica Monograph Series ("Monographs-Book Series of Monumenta Serica ") is a sinological series of books by the Steyler missionaries in the St. Augustine Mission House , which has been published in various languages (French, English, German) since 1937 (first at the Catholic Fu Jen University Beijing ). From 1985 to 2014 it was published by Steyler Verlag in Sankt Augustin and Nettetal . It has been published by Maney Publishing ( Leeds ) since 2015 . It is published by the Monumenta Serica Institute (until the end of 2012 under Roman Malek and currently under Zbigniew Wesołowski ).

It has a checkered history of appearance, as can be seen from the places where it is published: Beijing (Peiping), Los Angeles , Sankt Augustin and Nettetal .

Its spectrum includes individual studies, dissertations and conference proceedings on classic sinological topics, e.g. B. Research on Chinese culture, philosophy, literature and history. One focus is the history of Chinese religions, including that of Christianity in China. The focus is on the mission of the Catholic Church in China (see main article Jesuits and Jesuit Mission ). Festschriften for sinologists from all over the world have also appeared in it.

Various publications have emerged in collaboration with other Catholic or academic institutions, such as B. the China Center in Sankt Augustin near Bonn or the Ferdinand Verbiest Foundation ( Leuven ) or the Fondazione Civiltà Bresciana ( Brescia ). ISSN  0179-261X
