Myra is a melodic hardcore band from Leipzig .
history
Myra was founded in Leipzig at the end of 2003 by Henrik Zeltner ( guitar ), Sebastian Schneider ( drums ) and Robert Seyferth ( bass ). In April, Sebastian Spillner, who worked for some time at the local merchandising mail order company Impericon , a singer and Gert Rymen a guitarist joined the band . The latter left the group in 2005 due to lack of time. He now plays in the band Deadlock . Sebastian Schneider and Robert Seyferth also left the group. Max Weißenfels ( drums ), Felix Thyrolf ( bass ) and Ron Henkel ( guitar ) now play with Myra.
The self-produced EP of the same name, which was released in 2006, sold 500 times and was immediately sold out. In 2008 the group signed a contract with the European Label Group . On September 6, 2008, the group opened up for The Parachutes , Callejón and Caliban on the Spack! Festival in Höhr-Grenzhausen . On October 13th the debut album The Venom It Drips was released , which was criticized by the Ox-Fanzine , among others .
On July 3, 2009, Myra played the With Full Force on the Hardbowl stage as the opener for No Turning Back , Nasty , Crushing Caspars , The Red Chord , Maroon , Comeback Kid and Die Kassierer . A few weeks earlier, Myra played for the first time at the Mair1 Festival (at that time still Mach1 Festival) in Montabaur, Rhineland-Palatinate . In 2011 the band made their second appearance at this event. In August 2009, they performed at the Sucks'n'Summer Festival , which took place in Leisnig , Saxony . Other confirmed bands included Agnostic Front , Born from Pain , Evergreen Terrace , Suicide Silence , Heaven Shall Burn and Your Demise .
On May 14, 2010, the band's second album, Godspeed , was released. This received, among other things, reviews from Vampster . With New Blood Will Run and Said & Done , the group has already released two music videos. Broken Silence distributes the band's releases in Germany , Austria , Switzerland , France and Great Britain . In the USA , distribution takes place via Interpunk.
On June 11th 2011 Myra played with the band Cataract at the Bam In Your Face Festival in Pößneck in front of 500 spectators.
Myra financed their fourth album, FCK VLK , with the help of a fundraising campaign. It was released on March 9, 2018.
style
music
Myra play Melodic Hardcore , which also takes up a lot of Metalcore elements. The music style is influenced by bands like In Flames , Killswitch Engage , Devin Townsend , At the Gates , Soilwork and Poison the Well . Singer Spillner mainly uses guttural vocals , including screamings , shoutings and growls . Clean vocals are less common.
Texts
Myra takes up political and social issues in her texts. The musicians also process personal experiences in the lyrics. The musicians are against totalitarianism , racism and fascism . Myra supports the " Good Night White Pride " movement of the hardcore punk scene against National Socialist groups that are trying to gain a foothold in the genre.
Way of life
Most of the band members are vegan , vegetarian or straight edge .
