NGC 3045 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb with vast star-forming regions in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 92 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3028 and NGC 3052 .
The object was discovered on March 23, 1835 by the astronomer John Herschel with a 48 cm telescope.
