NGC 3052 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBc with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 160 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter. Together with five other galaxies, it forms the NGC 3091 group ( LGG 186 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3045 and NGC 3076 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 7, 1785 .
