NGC 3047 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Sextant in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 268 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered on April 24, 1883 by George Washington Hough and Sherburne Burnham .
