NGC 3071 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 285 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years across. In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3067 .
The object was discovered on March 10, 1886 by Johann Palisa .
